The diehard tests are a battery of statistical test s for measuring the quality of a random number generator . They were developed by George Marsaglia over several years and first published in 1995 on a CD ROM of random numbers. The tests are Birthday spacings Choose random points on a large interval. The spacings between the points should be asymptotically exponential distribution exponentially distributed . The name is based on the birthday paradox . Overlapping permutations Analyze sequences of five consecutive random numbers. The 120 possible orderings should occur with statistically equal probability. Ranks of matrices Select some number of bits from some number of random numbers to form a matrix over 0,1 , then determine the rank linear algebra rank of the matrix. Count the ranks. Monkey tests Treat sequences of some number of bits as words . Count the overlapping words in a stream. The number of words that don t appear should follow a known distribution. The name is based on the infinite monkey theorem . Count the 1s Count the 1 bits in each of either successive or chosen bytes. Convert the counts to letters , and count the occurrences of five letter words . Parking lot test Randomly place unit circles in a 100 x 100 square. If the circle overlaps an existing one, try again. After 12,000 tries, the number of successfully parked circles should follow a certain normal distribution . Minimum distance test Randomly place 8,000 points in a 10,000 x 10,000 square, then find the minimum distance between the pairs. The square of this distance should be Exponential distribution exponentially distributed with a certain mean. Random spheres test Randomly choose 4,000 points in a cube of edge 1,000. In mathematics , convergence tests are methods of testing for the Convergent series convergence , conditional convergence , absolute convergence , interval of convergence or divergence of an series mathematics infinite series . List of tests Limit of the summand . If the limit of the summand is undefined or nonzero, that is math lim n rightarrow infty a n ne 0 math , then the series cannot converge. In this sense, the partial sums are Cauchy sequence Cauchy only if this limit exists and is equal to zero. The test is inconclusive if the limit of the summand is zero. Ratio test . Assume that for all n , math a n 0 math . Suppose that there exists math r math such that math lim n to infty frac a n 1 a n r. math If r 1, then the series converges. If r 1, then the series diverges. If r 1, the ratio test is inconclusive, and the series may converge or diverge. Root test or n th root test . Define r as follows math r limsup n rightarrow infty sqrt n a n , math where lim sup denotes the limit superior possibly if the limit exists it is the same value . If r 1, then the series converges. If r 1, then the series diverges. If r 1, the root test is inconclusive, and the series may converge or diverge. Integral test for convergence Integral test . unreferenced date August 2008 Nontreponemal tests refer to a class of syphilis diagnostics that detect infection by indirect markers of infection. Nontreponemal Tests detect biomarker s that are released during cellular damage that occurs from the syphilis spirochete . In contrast treponemal tests look for antibody antibodies that are a direct result of the infection thus, anti treponeme IgG, IgM and to a lesser degree IgA Nontreponemal tests Syphilitic infection leads to the production of nonspecific antibodies that react to cardiolipin . This reaction is the foundation of nontreponemal assays such as the VDRL Venereal Disease Research Laboratory test and Rapid Plasma Reagin RPR test. Both these test are flocculation type tests that use an antigen antibody interaction. The complexes remain suspended in solution and therefore visible due to the lipid based antigen s. All nontreponemal tests measure immunoglobulin s G IgG and M IgM anti lipid antibodies formed by the host in response both to lipoidal material released from damaged host cells early in infection and to lipid from the cell surfaces of the treponeme itself. These nontreponemal tests are widely used for qualitative syphilis screening. However, their usefulness is limited by decreased sensitivity in early primary syphilis and during late syphilis, when a large number of untreated patients will be negative by these methods. With nontreponemal tests, false positive reactions can occur for a large number of reasons, the most common of which is other infections, both viral and bacterial. Additionally these tests may show false negative when the patient s antibody titer is very high due to a hook effect also called a prozone effect . Because of the issues with false positives, confirmation with a second treponemal test that is specific for T. pallidum antibodies is recommended. The tests are relatively simple to perform ... test reactions. DEFAULTSORT Nontreponemal Tests For Syphilis Category Sexually transmitted diseases ... more details

Unreferenced date July 2007 Orphan date July 2007 The Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure MTEL program was initiated by the Massachusetts Department of Education in 1998. It is part of a statewide education reform initiative for educators seeking PreKindergarten to Grade 12 licenses. The MTEL program includes a test of communication and literacy skills as well as tests of subject matter knowledge. The tests are designed to ensure that Massachusetts educators can communicate adequately with students, parents guardians, and other educators and that they are knowledgeable in the subject matter of the license sought. The MTEL program was expanded in November 2004 to include tests for candidates seeking vocational technical and adult basic education licenses. The MTEL is developed, administered, and scored by National Evaluation Systems, Inc. NES , which is now known as the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson Education . Tests are scored on a criterion based system, where examinees must attain a certain score based on standards established by the state. Constructed written & oral components of the tests are scored using a focused holistic scoring model similar to holistic grading . Like regular holistic scoring, responses are viewed for their overall quality, not just for individual mistakes. The Hayling and Brixton tests ref Burgess, P. & Shallice, T. 1997 The Hayling and Brixton Tests. Test manual. Bury St Edmunds, UK Thames Valley Test Company. ref are neuropsychological tests of executive function created by psychologists Paul W. Burgess and Tim Shallice . It is composed of two tests, the Hayling Sentence Completion Test and the Brixton Spatial Awareness Test. The Hayling Sentence Completion Test The Hayling Sentence Completion test is a measure of response initiation and response suppression. It consists of two sets of 15 sentences each having the last word missing. In the first section the examiner reads each sentence aloud and the participant has to simply complete the sentences, yielding a simple measure of response initiation speed. The second part of the Hayling requires subjects to complete a sentence with a nonsense ending word and suppress a sensible one , giving measures of response suppression ability and thinking time. This test is entirely spoken and is thus suitable for people with a wide range of problems such as those involving reading, visual perception or movement. It takes approximately five minutes to administer yet yields three different measures of executive functioning which can be considered separately or combined into an overall score. Little Feller II and Little Feller I were code names for a set of nuclear testing nuclear tests undertaken by the United States at the Nevada Test Site on July 7 and July 17, 1962 as part of Operation Sunbeam . In Little Feller II July 7 , the warhead was suspended only three feet above the ground and had a yield equivalent to only 22 tons of TNT. In Little Feller I July 17 , the warhead was launched as a Davy Crockett device from a stationary 155 millimeter launcher and set to detonate between 20 and 40 feet above the ground around 1.7 miles from the launch point, with a yield of 18 tons.
