The Muthuvan people were loyal subjects of the dynasty of Madurai, according to tribal legend. When the dynasty was deposed, the surviving royal members migrated to Travancore , central Kerala , and established the famed Poonjar dynasty. On their way to Kerala, the Muthuvas carried the idols of Madurai Meenakshi , the deity of the royal family, on their backs. The word Muthuvas is derived from the word muthuku which means back in the Tamil language Tamil and Malayalam language Malayalam languages. The tribe which carried the idols on their backs later settled in the forests near Tamil Nadu and came to be known as Muthuvans. The Muthuvans are very independent and reluctant to interact with the outside world. Muthvan women are strictly prohibited from having contact with non Muthvans, especially non Muthvan men. There is a hamlet of Muthuvans at Machiplavu kudi near Adimali, idukki district of Kerala. The Muthuvan women usually live in bamboo huts and are not allowed to talk or see men outside their tribe. File Tartufo.jpg thumb Chocolate tartufo Tartufo tahr too foh is an Italian cuisine Italian ice cream dessert. It is usually composed of two or more flavors of ice cream with either fruit syrup or frozen fruit typically raspberry, strawberry or cherry in the center. It is typically covered in a shell made of chocolate, but cinnamon or nuts are also used. Etymology The word Tartufo means Truffle in Italian. Tartufo may also translate to a type of edible fungus, but it is well known as an ice cream dessert. It is also known as Bomba . Origin The original tartufi were created just after the French revolution by French chefs and were chocolate confections made to resemble like their Truffle fungus prized fungi cousin in the P rigord region of France . These sweet confections were given at Christmas time as gifts. Sometime during the Victorian era , the frozen truffle came about when the idea of molding ice creams into shapes such as flowers, fruit, and other foods became popular. During recent times ice cream truffles or tartufi have regained popularity. Preparation Tartufo is usually composed of two flavors of ice cream which are sculpted together with the hands. If there is a fruit in the middle, ice cream may be scooped out from the middle and the fruit placed inside, or fruit syrup may be used to paste the two scoops together. If its shell is chocolate, special chocolate is usually melted and either dipped or poured over the ice cream ball after being cooled to lukewarm though they can also be rolled in the chocolate and then frozen. If its shell is cinnamon, it is usually rolled in cinnamon before freezing. If it uses nuts, they are usually placed on by hand if large and rolled on if smaller. For a better shape, circular molds are sometimes used. Popularity Tartufo are common in Italy but still considered a delicacy in America. In Italy, it is prepared professionally as well as sold commercially. It is rarely sold commercially in America, though it is a common menu item ... more details

Flora and fauna Wadi Wurayah is home to more than 100 species of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians as well as more than 300 species of plants. Famous for its scenic waterfall set amid the Hajar Mountains , Wadi Wurayah is recommended as a must see in UAE off road and tourist guides. It is a spectacular location with streams and pools dotted around the rocky outcrops. It is one of few remaining places in the world where the endangered Arabian tahr still roams free. Conservationists believe it to be among the last places in the UAE where the Arabian leopard , which has not been seen in the UAE since 1995, still survives. The same is true for the caracal lynx, a small, shy predator, which like the leopard is persecuted by farmers who believe it targets chickens and goats. The wadi is also home to the Garra barreimiae , a type of freshwater fish that lives only in the Hajar Mountains . Among the more than 300 species of plants is a species of wild orchid unique to the UAE, the Epipactis veratrifolia . Protected area In the UAE, what constitutes a protected area is vague. There is no set of unified country standards. Few protected areas have management plans, while in many places it is difficult to enforce laws protecting rare animals. The Wadi Wurayah protected area will be set up so it meets international standards established by the World Wide Fund for Nature as well as by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation . ref http www.thenational.ae article 20090428 PAGETHREE 704279804 1119 Natural paradise gets protection ref References reflist External links http www.hsbc.ae 1 2 ALL SITE PAGES about hsbc corporate sustainability environment wadi wurayah HSBC Partenrship with EWS WWF to aid the conservation ... more details
