His parents are unhappy and want a divorce, which has consequences for Miles. Every headline in the local newspapers includes his name, people want to meet him, and he is overwhelmed by the thought of the whole situation, as he was just doing what he loved. 1. Conversion factor

Cleanup date November 2009 A conversion factor changes something to a different version or form. A factor is something that brings results or a cause, while conversion is an action of changing the version of a thing. In mathematics , specifically algebra , a conversion factor is used to convert a measured quantity to a different unit of measure without changing the relative amount. To accomplish this, a ratio fraction is established that equals one 1 . In the ratio, the conversion factor is a multiplier that, when applied to the larger unit, converts the larger unit into the smaller unit, by multiplication with the measured amount. 24 hrs 1 day 1 or 43,560 square feet 1 acre 1 3 days 3 24 hours 72 hours   conversion factor is 24 Note If a b, then a b 1 and b a 1 Days are converted, to hours, by multiplying the days by the conversion factor as 24. The conversion can be reversed by dividing, the hours, by 24 to get days however, the reciprocal 1 24 could be considered the reverse conversion factor for an hours to days conversion, where 1 24 0.0416666666667. Hence, the term conversion factor is the multiplier which yields the result, not a divisor from that viewpoint. To yield hours, the conversion factor is 24, not 1 24, so hours days 24 multiplying by the factor . Common conversion factors for water and wastewater For water treatment or reservoir s, there are several conversion factors which are commonly used Since 1 day 24 hours 1440 minutes, therefore 15 minutes 1 day 1440 minutes 15 1440 0.010416667 0.01 days. 1 million gallons per day MGD 3.069 acre feet per day ac ft day 1.55 cubic feet per second cfs 694 gallons per minute gpm 1 gallon 3785 milliliters 3.785 liters 8.34 pounds of water. 1. Factor X

tissue factor TF pathway and the intrinsic pathway. These pathways converge to a common point, the formation ...otheruses PBB geneid 2159 Factor X , also known by the eponym Stuart Prower factor or as prothrombinase ... serine endopeptidase protease group S1 . Physiology Factor X is synthesized in the liver and requires vitamin K for its synthesis. Factor X is activated into factor Xa by both factor IX with its cofactor, factor VIII in a complex known as intrinsic Xase and factor VII with its cofactor, tissue factor a complex known as extrinsic Xase . It is therefore the first member of the final common pathway ... when factor Xa is complexed with activated factor V co factor V in the prothrombinase complex. Factor Xa is inactivated by protein Z dependent protease inhibitor ZPI , a serine protease inhibitor serpin . The affinity of this protein for factor Xa is increased 1000 fold by the presence of protein Z , while it does not require protein Z for inactivation of factor XI . Defects in protein Z lead to increased factor Xa activity and a propensity for thrombosis. The half life of factor X is 40 45 hours. Structure of Factor Xa The first crystal structure of human factor Xa was deposited in May 1993. Till now total 191 crystal structures of factor Xa with various inhibitors have been deposited in the protein data bank. The active site of factor Xa is divided into four sub pockets as S1, S2 ... binding domains, namely the hydrophobic box , the cationic hole and the water site. Factor Xa inhibitors ... Role in disease Inborn deficiency of factor X is very uncommon ... blood loss. Apart from congenital deficiency, low factor X levels may occur occasionally in a number of disease states. For example, factor X deficiency may be seen in amyloidosis , where factor X is adsorbed to the amyloid fibrils in the vasculature. Deficiency of vitamin K or antagonism ...   more details

  1. Phase factor

Unreferenced date December 2009 For any complex number written in polar form such as r e sup i sup , the phase factor is the exponential part, i.e. e sup i sup . As such, the term phase factor is similar to the term phasor , although the former term is more common in quantum mechanics. This phase factor is itself a complex number of absolute value 1. The variable appearing in such an expression is generally referred to as the phase . It does not, in itself, have any physical meaning, since the introduction of a phase factor does not change the expectation values of a Hermitian operator .
