    Stanage Park is a park located some 3 miles east of Knighton, Powys Knighton , Powys and near the settlement of Heartsease, Powys Heartsease . It is an outstanding picturesque park parkland laid out by Humphry Repton . The last and most complete of his three recognized Wales Welsh landscape commissions. Repton s picturesque parkland improvements, castellated house and enclosed garden survive almost intact and are recorded in a Red Book , still kept at the house. Later nineteenth century arboretum and formal terraced gardens lie to the north and west of the house. There is also a pheasant shoot in the parkland surrounding the house. Description Peter Dickinson has been writing poetry for as long as he can remember. In the 1950s and 60s, he was the resident poet at Punch magazine where he wrote over two hundred poems. After he left the magazine to embark on his second career as a novelist, he continued to write poetry for pleasure and for the occasional commission. The Weir is a selection of his favourite and most memorable poems. Organised into four sections, the selection covers first, deeply personal poems second, those he wrote chiefly to amuse himself or others third, poems written for children and finally a selection poems from the Punch magazine days. This signed and numbered hardback limited edition of a hundred copies was published December 2007. A paperback edition was published simultaneously. Biography Peter Dickinson was born in Africa , but raised and educated in England . From 1952 to 1969 he was on the editorial staff of Punch magazine , and since then has earned his living writing fiction of various kinds for adults and children. He was the first author to win the Crime Writers Association Golden Dagger for two books running and the first author to win the Carnegie Medal twice. His books for children have been published in many languages throughout the world. His latest novel, Angel Isle , was published in 2007 by Macmillan Children s Books in the UK and by Wendy Lamb Books Random House in the USA . He has been chairman of the Society of Authors and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature He is twice married, with four children and six grandchildren.
