    Franz Crass born 9 March 1928 in Wipperf rth , Rhine Province is a Germans German bass voice type bass . A native of Wipperf rth , Crass studied with Gerda Heuer in Wiesbaden and with Professor Clemens Glettenberg at the Hochschule f r Musik K ln Hochschule f r Musik in K ln . He won numerous competitions throughout Germany in the 1950s. In 1954 he made his debut at the municipal theater in Krefeld from 1956 he sang at the Staatsoper Hannover Landestheater Hannover . Crass established a reputation as a Richard Wagner Wagnerian early in his career, appearing at the Bayreuth Festival in 1959 and 1960. He made guest appearances throughout Germany, and was a regular member of the K ln Opera from 1962 until 1964. In addition to his work as a concert and oratorio singer, he became known for singing works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . Crass ended his career abruptly due to hearing trouble in 1981 since then he has devoted himself to coaching younger singers.     Derrick Crass born August 6, 1960 was an Olympic Games Olympic Olympic weightlifting weightlifter for the United States . In his early years he lifted under Coach and Mentor Ted Frank at the Belleville Weightlifting Club IL who laid the foundation for all future lifting achievements. In his early twenties he was selected to train at the Colorado Springs Training Facility and from then on was coached by Harvey Newton and Jim Schmitz. In 1996, he had the honor of gracing the cover of a CD, entitled Amazing Disgrace, by the rock band The Posies. The image was taken from the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
