The Cyclone has more of an older design that does not match their other sirens in production. History The Cyclone was designed in 1968, by Jim Biersach, as a 120dB siren. It was intended for civil defense purposes, but many communities have used it for other uses. In 1980, the ASC T 135 P 50 was designed. It used the same rotor as the Cyclone used. History The ACA Hurricane 130 was designed by American Signal Corporation Alerting Communicators of America and presented at a Civil defense Civil Defense convention in November, 1968. They introduced other sirens, however, this utilized new fiber casting techniques, never before used by any other company. The Hurricane started off with a square horn that ended with two throats where the horn attaches to the chopper enclosure. These were produced until 1973, when a larger, rounded horn was made that was a true exponential horn. The siren was popular with towns looking for a 130 decibel dB siren. The corporation continued production until 1980, when it was replaced with the List of sirens built by Alerting Communicators of America P 50 50 HP siren. All Hurricanes are very rare, as most of them have been replaced by newer sirens. The ACA Allertor 125 is a discontinued electromechanical Civil defense siren made by Alerting Communicators of America. It has a distinctive design with the chopper on the bottom horn and the noise also coming out of the top horn. History The ACA Allertor was designed around the early 1960s as a 125dB siren with a metal horn. It has had many changes throughout its production run, the most notable being the horn changed to fiberglass around 1968, then to a larger design, as seen in the video. The Allertor was a popular choice for various communities in the Midwest from the late 60 s, to the late 70 s, and served as one of ACA s most popular sirens during that time. The design was unique, as it used a top horn design, with the intake built into the horn, near the bottom of the siren head. Despite being an efficient design, it was expensive to build the fiberglass horn. The Allertor was finally discontinued around 1980, and replaced with the more efficiently designed Penetrator 10. The Penetrator 10 used a bell horn and cone intake that was much cheaper to produce.
