He served as British Ambassador to Bahrain 1979 81 , the British Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates 1981 86 , British Ambassador to Ethiopia Ethiopia 1986 1990 and finally British Ambassador to Iraq Iraq 1990 91 . Early life The son of the late Admiral Sir Harold Thomas Walker Harold Walker , Sir Harold was born in 1932, and attended Winchester and later Worcester College, Oxford. Career From 1956 to 1992 he was a career diplomat. From 1958 62 he lived in Dubai, and subsequently served as British ambassador to Bahrain 1979 81 , the United Arab Emirates 1981 86 , Ethiopia 1986 1990 and finally Iraq 1990 91 . He served to Iraq on his last duty from 1990 to 1991, and was awarded a KCMG in that year. Retirement Since retirement from the diplomatic service in 1992, Harold Walker has continued his interest in the Arab world. He is a member of Council for Arab British Understanding CABU . No footnotes date June 2010 Thomas Knyvett, 4th Baron Berners 1539 1616? was the High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1579. Thomas was the first son of John Knyvett d. 1524 and Agnes the daughter of John Harcourt Sir John Harcourt of Stanton Harcourt , Oxfordshire . Knyvett was a native of Ashwellthorpe in Norfolk , and married Muriel Parry, the daughter of Sir Thomas Parry Comptroller of the Household Thomas Parry . He was knight ed in 1578 and inherited the Ashwellthorpe estates from Jane Knyvett, 3rd Baroness Berners Jane Bourchier , who was his grandmother. He was buried at Ashwellthorpe on February 9, 1617 1618. It is stated that he unsuccessfully claimed the title of Lord Berners. References E. T.
