For more than a thousand years, Tibetanart ists have played a key role in the cultural life of Tibet . From designs for painted furniture to elaborate murals in religious buildings, their efforts have permeated virtually every facet of life on the Tibetan plateau and defined a visual style which is distinctly Tibetan people Tibetan . The vast majority of surviving artworks created before the mid 20th century are dedicated to the depiction of religious subjects and are imbued with tradition both in terms of technique, for the most part being distemper on cloth or murals, and subject matter drawn from the rich panoply of religious texts. They were commissioned by religious establishments or by pious individuals for use within the practice of Tibetan Buddhism and, despite the existence of flourishing workshops, the artists were largely anonymous. These works not only document key philosophical and spiritual concepts but also demonstrate the vitality of Tibetan aesthetics over the centuries in terms of the development of particular schools and the cross fertilisation of stylistic influences from other Chinese, Nepalese, and Indian styles. Today, however, Tibetanart presents a very different picture, where there is a truly vibrant, modern and exciting artistic scene waiting to be discovered. These incenses have a characteristic earthy or herbal scent to them. Tibetan incenses can contain 30 or more ingredients . In Tibetan medicine medical field, Tibetan incense is recognised as a way of treatment for sickness . This information can be found in Tibetan medical books which originated from the 4 Tantras Root Tantra, Tantra of Enlightenment, Tantra of Instructions, Concluding Tantra which is also known as rGyudbzhi in Tibetan language Tibetan . To this day, it is the central work upon which Tibetan medicine is based. Tibetan medical theory states that everything in the universe is made up of the 5 proto elements sa Earth , chu Water , me Fire , rLung Wind or Air , and Nam mkha Space . But only four play a role in the classification of our illnesses, except Nam mkha Space . Each element contains 8 active forces and 17 qualities. Some of these elements are contained in our three bodily energies and their imbalance affects the equilibrium of the three fluids rLung, mkhrispa and badkan . Further reading can be found in various Tibetan Medical Theory books. Authentic Tibetan incense originates either from traditional monastery or medical college hospital formulation. In order words, incense follows a particular lineage which can be traced back to the originator. Over the years, Tibetan incense making have been populated and commercialised which leads to incense formulation by non authentic makers. This has affected and degenerated the Tibetan incense formulation and making methods, which forms an important part of the unique Tibetan Culture. Ethnic Tibetan personal names typically consist of two juxtaposed elements. Family names are rare except among those of aristocratic ancestry though diaspora Tibetans living in societies where a surname is expected may adopt one . Tibetan nomads drokpa also use clan names in farming communities these are now rare and may be replaced by the names of households. Traditionally personal names are bestowed upon a child by a lama , who will often incorporate an element of their own name. In the Tibetan diaspora diaspora , Tibetans often apply for the Dalai Lama to provide names for their children. Personal names are in most cases composed of readily understood Tibetan words. Most names may be given to either male or female children, with only a minority being specifically masculine or feminine. References cite book author Tournadre, Nicolas & Sangda Dorje others trans.
