The preface to the test report includes the following Conformity assessment does not ensure that a processor has no nonconformities to the Ada standard other than those, if any, documented in this report. The second paragraph of the background of the current http www.adaic.com compilers procs 3.0 ACAP30.html ACAA procedures says It is important to note the scope and intent of conformity assessment. The purpose of conformity assessment is to ensure that Ada processors achieve a high degree of conformity with the Ada standard Ada95 as corrected by TC1 . Characteristics such as performance and suitability for a particular application are not specified by the standard, and thus are outside the scope of Ada conformity assessment. Moreover, the ACATS is a set of test programs intended to check broadly for correct implementation it is not possible to exhaustively test for conformity. Thus, conformity is checked only to the extent of these tests processors that are certified as conforming may fail to conform to the standard in ways peculiar to each, under particular circumstances. The Speaking Proficiency English Assessment Kit SPEAK was an Speech communication oral Teststudentassessmenttest was developed by the Educational Testing Service ETS. The SPEAK was administered to non native English language English speakers. Its aim was to evaluate the examinee s proficiency in spoken English. It was usually taken as a professional certification , especially for graduate teaching assistants in the American college and university system, who are often required to hold office hours and converse in English with students. It was also used in the medical profession, where communication with patients is required. The SPEAK test was very similar to the Test of Spoken English TSE and was in fact a form of the TSE developed for institutions by using retired forms of the TSE. A spelling test is an assessment of a person s usually a student s ability to spell words correctly. Spelling tests are usually given in school during language arts class, to see how well each student has learned the most recent spelling lesson. Typical intervals for spelling tests are one per week throughout the school year, except for spelling bee s, which are generally held once per year. Types of spelling tests There are generally four types of spelling tests. In an oral spelling test, the teacher pronounces each word out loud and the students write each word down. In a spelling bee type test see spelling bee below , each student is asked individually one at a time to spell a different specific word out loud. In a proofreading style test, sentences or paragraphs are given to the student on one or more sheets of paper, and the student must find the incorrectly spelled words and supply the correct spellings in the spaces provided. In a multiple choice spelling test, two or more spellings are given for each word in the test, and the student must place a mark next to the one that is correct. The main difference between most spelling tests at school and a spelling bee is that in a spelling bee the students do not get to know in advance which words will be tested, but for regular spelling tests they do.
