Its borders consist of 15th Street to the North, Utica Street to the East, 21st Street to the South, and Peoria Avenue to the west. At one time, Spring fed Orcutt Lake was the watering hole for a ranch belonging to Colonel A. D. Orcutt, a member of Oklahoma s first legislature. In 1908, a group of developers led by Colonel Orcutt s son, Samuel A. Orcutt, purchased convert 25 acre m2 in Orcutt Addition to build a park and an artificial lake. The amusement park, built by the lake in 1910, marked the end of the trolley line. Other park facilities included an enclosed dance pavilion, a swimming pool, and, later, a 7,600 roller coaster. By 1917, Orcutt Lake Amusement Park had become a residential area and was renamed SwanLake. SwanLake is the focal point of the district of the same name which includes the commercial area on 15th Street and extends to major arterials on the north, east, south and west. Two story houses built around the lake from 1919 to the present represent a variety of architectural styles including Spanish, Georgian Revival and vernacular interpretations honoring the swan. The remainder of the neighborhood is similar in scale, containing bungalows, two story houses, quadruplexes and six plexes of stone, clapboard and stucco. The lake is surrounded by cabins and is used for recreational purposes. History SwanLake because it is shaped like a swan. From the 1920 s until the late 1970 s there was a resort at SwanLake on the south side of the lake. It included a pavilion that sold food and it had a band stand, dance floor and roller skating rink on the same floor. Cabins were rented out and bands performed at the pavilion. There was a bath house to rent swim suits, several boats for rent and bait could also be bought. The pavilion was built after WWI and owned by the Ebersen family. On 2 1 1921 the pavilion was purchased by Peter N. Hansen and his wife Claudine whose children Erna, Art, Lorna, and Earl grew up on the resort. They owned it until about 1946. Some other owners of the SwanLake Resort over the years were a Bill and Mary Myreholt and Waldo and Marilyn Jorgensen. The cabins were sold to individuals during the 60 s and 70 s. The pavilion burned down around 1979. Today there is a place called the Shore Store on the east side of the lake. In 1959, a tornado went thru and caused a lot of damage to the north side.
