Mirari Vos On Liberalism and Religious Indifferentism is a Papal Encyclical addressed To All Patriarchs, Primates, Archbishops, and Bishops of the Catholic World and is thus general in scope. The first encyclical issued by Gregory XVI , it is principally a denunciation of the doctrine of religious pluralism as dangerous for the souls of the faithful. It also voiced support for Christian freedom, upheld the ecclesiastical supremacy of the papacy and raised concerns over too close alliances between the clergy and government. Legacy Ecclesiastic supremacy of the papacy The ecclesiastic supremacy of the papacy remains in force, although it has been somewhat diluted by the advocacy of collegiality during the Second Vatican Council. Religious pluralism Mirari Vos s opposition to religious pluralism was considerably softened by the constitutions of the Second Vatican Council . In most of her books, Vos wrote about her experiences as a Jewish girl during the Second World War . Her best known book was Wie niet weg is wordt gezien English Who isn t gone will be seen , which was awarded with a Dutch literature prize for children s books in 1982. From 1936, Vos and her family lived in Rotterdam . She experienced in Rotterdam the German bombardment of the city in May 1940, after which her family moved to Rijswijk near The Hague . In 1943 the Gudema family went into hiding. Vos and her sister Elly were separated from their parents during this period relating to her book Hide and Seek . After the war Vos became a kindergarten teacher. She married in 1956, and had three children. During the 1970s she was admitted to a hospital due to her war traumas. This led to writing about her experiences, first as poems poems, but soon in the shape of stories and eventually children s books. Orphan date February 2009 Willem Lambertus Vos born August 30, 1964, Amstelveen is a Netherlands Dutch scientist . He is Professor of Physics at the University of Twente and Groupleader at the Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics http www.amolf.nl AMOLF In 2004, with his group members, Peter Lodahl et al. they succeeded in controlling the pace of light emission , varying from a light drizzle to a rainstorm. In the process, the team has verified a 17 year old prediction of American physicist Eli Yablonovitch that ignited a worldwide rush to build tiny chips that control light beams. The achievement of Dr. Lodahl and a team of physicists and chemists was reported on in Nature journal Nature 430 . Researchers say it has many potential uses, not only as a tool for controlling quantum optics quantum optical systems, but also in efficient miniature laser s for display device s and telecommunications , in solar cell s, and even in future quantum computer s.
