  1. Imam (Sunni Islam)

Unreferenced date March 2011 Usul al fiqh In Sunni Islam , an Imam lang ar plural A immah , lang fa wikt is a leader, often the worship leader of a mosque and the Muslim community. Similar to spiritual leaders, the imam is the one who leads Islamic worship services. More often, the community turns to the mosque imam if they have a religious question. In smaller communities, an imam could also be the community leader. The Sunni branch of Islam, whereto approximately 90 of Muslims adhere, does not have a clergy and therefore an imam is not a cleric like that of a Christian priest . The Sunni branch of Islam does not have imams in the same sense as the Shi a . In every day terms, the imam for Sunni Muslims is the one who leads congregational Islamic worship and prayers, and the Friday sermon is most often given by an appointed imam. The term is also used for a recognized religious scholar or authority in Islam, often for the founding scholars of the four Sunni madhhab s, or schools of fiqh jurisprudence fiqh . It may also refer to the Muslim scholars who created the analytical sciences related to Hadith or it may refer to the heads of the Prophet Muhammad s family in their generational times. In other words, Imam Ali, referring to Ali ibn Abi Talib , is a phrase commonly used by both Shi a and Sunni Muslims, though with different connotations. ref http islamicweb.com history caliphs imams.htm The Rightly Guided Caliphs & The Four Imams ref Those who are considered imams in the context of scholarly authority by Sunni Muslims, are listed below class wikitable width 60 Madhhab Schools of Jurisprudence Aqidah Schools of Theology Science of Hadith Abu Hanifa an Nu man Imam Abu Hanifa Imam Abu al Hasan al Ash ari al Ashari Imam Bukhari Malik ibn Anas Imam Malik ... vanguards of islamic aqeedah contents List of Sunni Imams Professional titles Category Imams Category ... and phrases Category Titles of national or ethnic leadership Category Islam ...   more details

  1. Sunni view of Abu Huraira

Original research date September 2007 Main Abu Huraira Sunni Islam Sunni Muslims view Abu Huraira as one of the major narrators of Hadith , and like Uprightness of all Sahaba all of sahabas, he is trustworthy . They believe that he was blessed with an unfailing memory, a miracle from God, bestowed upon him after Muhammad prayed for him. They depict him as a man living an ascetic and humble life, cherishing knowledge and worship. Memory Sunnis perceive it as amazing how he had such a strong memory for hadith. Th y quote him, explain it as such I was a poor man, and used to stick to Allah s Apostle contented with what will fill my stomach, and the Muhajirin emigrants used to be busy trading in the markets, and the Ansar used to be busy looking after their properties. One day I heard Allah s Apostle saying, Who will spread his Rida a garment covering the upper body till I finished my speech and then fold it, i.e. wear it , in which case he will never forget anything he had heard from me? So I spread my garment which I was wearing and by Him Who sent Muhammad with the Truth, ever since, I have never forgotten whatever I heard from him the Prophet . Friendship with Muhammad Sunni s portray Abu Hurayrah as one who loved the prophet a great deal and found favor with him. He was never tired of looking at the Prophet whose face appeared to him as having all the radiance of the sun and he was never tired of listening to him. Often he would praise God for his good fortune and say Praise be to God Who has guided Abu Hurayrah to Islam. Praise be to God Who has taught Abu Hurayrah the Quran. 1. Sunni view of the Sahaba
