It consists in dry sowing crops directly into existing pastures without using tillage , fertilizer or chemicals. Principles Advance Sowing has 5 major principles Sowing is done when the topsoil is dry. Coulter type sowing equipment must be used. No Herbicides or pesticides are applied at any stage. No Fertilizers are applied at any stage. Grazing management must be good. The rationale behind the method is to produce crops without simplifying the biodiversity . All other commonly used sowing methods of cropping rely on eliminating some or all of the plant and animals present to create an advantage for the growing crop. Advance Sowing relies on complementarity of plant animal interactions to produce biomass that can be utilised directly for human consumption or fed to animals. No Kill Cropping offers opportunities to expand the grain crop production throughout the world as an addition to the grazing resources that people depend upon. By using No Kill in areas that are already grasslands or are arid or highly erodible grain can be produced without risking ecological damage. Other advantages include the low ... Farming. Infobox Mancala ranks Two sowing Multilap region Ghana Ba awa is a mancala from Ghana. Although played in some of the same regions as Oware , it is simpler and in traditional societies is considered a game for women and children . Ba awa is related to games j erin and obridjie played in Nigeria. It is also similar to mancala game anywoli played at the Ethiopian Sudanese border. Infobox Mancala ranks Two sowing Single lap region Kazakhstan Eson xorgol is a mancala game played by Kazakhs in western Mongolia . Rules Equipment div class floatright Mancala 2x5 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 size 32px Starting position for Eson Xorgol. div Traditionally, the game is played with a field of 2x5 pits and 90 goat droppings. Of course, some prefer to play the game with 10 cups and any 90 undifferentiated objects, such as stones or glass beads the Nomads usually take dried goat feces . Object The goal is to capture more feces than the opponent. Setup At the beginning of the game, nine droppings are placed in each pit. Unlike many other mancala games, pits are not owned by particular players. Movement Players take turn sowing pieces clockwise around the board. This is the opposite direction of most mancalas. Sowing is accomplished by selecting a pit, removing all the pieces from that pit, and dropping them one by one in each subsequent pit, until all have been used. Capturing A capture is made when sowing ends in an occupied pit immediately followed by an unoccupied pit. When this occurs, all pieces in the pit across from the pit in which the sowing ended are captured. Game end The game ends when the players agree that no more droppings can be captured. Daramutu is a traditional mancala game from Sri Lanka . It was first described in 1909 by the British engineer Henry Parker author Henry Parker in his book Ancient Ceylon 1909 . Traditionally, the game is only played by women. Rules The game s board termed olinda puruwa comprises 2 rows of 7 pits each. At game setup, four seeds are places in each pit. Seeds of Abrus precatorius are traditionally used. Each player controls one of the rows. At her turn, the player takes all the seeds in one of her pits and Mancala General gameplay sows them. The first player to play may choose whether sowing occurs clockwise or counterclockwise after that, all sowing will be done accordingly throughout the game. Sowing is called ihinawa . If the last seed is sown in a pit that contains at least 3 seeds, Mancala General gameplay relay sowing applies. If the last seed falls in an empty pit, or in a pit with exactly one seed called puta , son or in a pit with exactly two seeds naga , figlia , any seeds in the opposite pit are captured. Note that the player can either capture seeds from her own or from the opponent s row, depending on whether her sowing ends in the opponent s or her own row. When one of the players cannot move, the game is over. All remaining seeds are captured by the opponent, and the winner is the player who captured most seeds.
