Hugh of SaintOmer ref Hugh of Falkenberg, Hugh of Fauquembergues. ref died 1106 was the Prince of Galilee and Lord of Tiberias from 1101 to his death. Fauquembergues and SaintOmerSaintOmer are both situated near each other. Hugh was lord of the former and his family, which was to gain fame in subsequent Crusades , hailed from the latter. Born in Th rouanne , Hugh accompanied Baldwin I of Jerusalem Baldwin of Boulogne on the First Crusade and into Mesopotamia in 1098, where he carved out the County of Edessa . Nicholas, as marshal of Achaea for Princess Isabella of Villehardouin , recommended marrying the young heiress Matilda of Hainaut Matilda to Guy II de la Roche Guy II of Athens to solidify the alliance between the two countries 1299 . Nicholas later fell out with Isabella s second husband, Philip I of Piedmont Philip of Savoy , when he arrested the chancellor Benjamin of Kalamata . Nicholas protested the act by confronting the new prince at Glarentsa , but violence was averted.
