Plot summary In this episode, Detectives Robert Goren Goren and Alexandra Eames Eames investigate the murder of a city auditor who appears to have killed his family and then himself. Nevertheless, an analysis of the crime scene suggests a different scenario. When Goren and Eames learn the dead man uncovered a pensions scandal involving retired cops, the trail leads them to corruption within the force. The apparent murder suicide takes a turn when an audit of the school district s security system is found. Then, the detectives toward law enforcement personnel when they learn that the dead accountant was investigating the illegal public employee practice of double dipping, shaking down drug dealers, or getting paid two salaries at once. Evidence points toward a handful of former cops, particularly a tough safety woman officer with an urgent need for money to keep her daughters in an expensive private school. Plot An off duty police officer is shot to death when he checks noises in the recently vacated apartment below his own. The apartment belonged to a paparazzi photographer who had pictures of a young celebrity mother neglecting her child dropping the infant when she reaches for the child s bottle and who was attempting to sell the photos to her. She had previously been pictured leaving her infant in her car when she left for five minutes for a latte. Her husband, a rap per, was identified by a witness as the shooter. The witness lived across the street from the paparazzi, and recognized the shooter on the cover of a magazine in the precinct s restroom. Further investigation reveals more damaging photographs, showing the celebrity snorting cocaine in a Miami nightclub while she was five months pregnant. The photographer admits on the stand that the husband paid him to take the pictures after giving her the cocaine, so as to set her up for any future divorce proceedings, and the husband is convicted. At the end of the episode, Jack McCoy is shown receiving a large envelope, stamped PICTURES do not bend. Plot The friend of a producer of a line of videos akin to Girls Gone Wild is found dead on the video company s bus outside a party. A security video shows the producer entering the bus with a woman an hour before the murder, and then the producer leaving to meet his friend outside the bus, who then goes in himself. Detectives Ed Green Green and Joe Fontana Law & Order Fontana track down the woman, who had been recorded by the producer at an earlier party. The woman, a college student, tried to get the tape back from the producer, but he said he would only return it in return for sex. She initially agreed, but then changed her mind. When the producer sent his friend in to have sex with her, as a birthday present , the student killed him with a champagne bottle. Jack McCoy charges the producer with rape and felony murder rule felony murder , the murder being an outcome of the continuing underlying felony of the rape. At trial, the defence produces a sexual consent contract signed by the student. Although this appears to hurt McCoy s case, Connie Rubirosa finds other such forms, including one signed by a girl who committed suicide because she slept with the producer.
