He helped develop a number of prospecting and exploration technologies. Born in Shawinigan, Quebec , he graduated from Universit Laval and from the University of Toronto . In 1970, he was appointed a professor in economic geology and the first director of research at cole Polytechnique de Montr al . Honours In 1975 he was awarded the Royal Society of Canada s Bancroft Award. In 1984 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and was promoted to Companion in 2002. Louis Blais January 7, 1755 &ndash May 15, 1838 was a farmer and political figure in Lower Canada . He represented Hertford in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1800 to 1804. He was born in Montmagny, Quebec Saint Pierre de la Rivi re du Sud , the son of Michel Blais and Marie Fran oise Lizotte. Blais was a captain in the militia, later reaching the rank of major. He was permitted to enter the 2005 Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii, a life long dream. He is believed to be the first person with ALS to attempt the Hawaii Ironman. Career Blais played college hockey for Suffolk University in the ECAC Northeast of the NCAA. Greg played four seasons with Suffolk University from 02 06. In 2003 lead the ECAC Northeast in save percentage at 91.9 with a 3.06 G.A.A. In 2005 Greg was named M.V.P for Suffolk University and named third team All American. Greg signed with his first professional team for Heist Op Den Berg in the Belgium Elite League for the 2006 07 season.
