John Redford died November 1547 was a major England English composer and organist of the Tudor dynasty Tudor period. From about 1525 he was organist at St Paul s Cathedral succeeding Thomas Hickman and choir master there from 1534. Many of his works are represented in the Mulliner Book . All his organ music is liturgical and mostly vocal in style, but some are in a distinctively keyboard style containing idiomatic ornamentation, and require high technical skill. Unlike most of his colleagues, Redford also wrote songs and produced masque s, or dramatic entertainment for the court. As he also held the post of Almoner and Master of the Choristers, Redford was in overall charge of the choristers education, and this included performing entertainments at court. The most celebrated of these entertainments is the morality play, The Play of Wyt and Science written ca 1530 1550 , some of which is now lost. He also wrote a number of poems, including the 23 verse Nolo mortem peccatoris , which was set to music by Thomas Morley , who was a later organist at St. Paul s. Emmette Redford September 23, 1904 &ndash January 30, 1998 was born in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Midland College, Midland, Texas and to Southwest Texas State Teachers College, finally graduating from The University of Texas at Austin. He received a Ph.D. in government from Harvard in 1933. During World War II, he worked for four years in the Office of Price Administration. He became a full professor at the University of Texas in 1939 and the Ashbel Smith Professor of Government in 1963. When the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs was founded, he became the Ashbel Smith Professor of Government and Public Affairs in 1970. He edited a 13 volume history of the Lyndon B. Johnson Administration. After serving with Richard II of England Richard II on an ill fated Scottish campaign in 1385 he accompanied John of Gaunt in 1386 on his expedition to Spain.
