The Bay Blue Pool Bay is a small cove, situated about a mile away from the village of Llangennith in the Gower Peninsula Gower . The cove is surrounded by natural cliffs, and is accessible all the time via the cliff path. There is a small, unstable path down the cliff face to get to it. This path is unfenced. The beach is often fully covered at high tide. On this beach is a natural pool, that is 8ft 2.4m deep. This pool is well known locally, and many people enjoy tomb stoning . The beach is near to the 3 mile long beach, Rhossili Bay , and Burry Holmes . Travel The Bay is reach able from the M4 Motorway M4 J47 and is close to Swansea. The nearest Car Parking is either in Llangennith or Llanmadoc , both in the Gower. There is easy access from Llangennith or Rhossili Bay, as there are paths over the dunes. From Rhossili Bay or Llanmadoc, you can take the cliff path. Features At one end of the bay, is an natural rock arch, called the Blue Pool Arch or 3 Chimneys . The arch is full of water at high tide. The Blue Pool The pool is 8 ft 2.4m deep, and was formed naturally over time. It is rock, and tombstoning is popular. Many people come to the pool to jump in the cold, refreshing waters there. The water is cold, and gets colder the deeper down you go. The pool is more visible at low tide, when the sea is not disguising the rocks. The pool is still as deep, and still jump able. Unfortunatley, it is more dangerous when the tide is in, as you may hit yourself on a hidden rock. When the tide comes in, the water is replenished, and when it goes out again, it is safe and visible. The Beach The beach is mostly sand, but there are rocks surrounding the beach, from where the cliffs have crumbled over time. The sand is wet most of the time. The rocks are safe to scramble across, though it is advised that you do not climb the cliffs. You can scramble up the rock surrounding of the pool to jump off into the pool. There is also a small climb to reach the cliff path. Views The sea h ... more details

No footnotes date April 2009 File Gower Explorer logo.png right 150px The Gower Explorer is a bus service, previously operated by Veolia Transport Cymru and now First Cymru , which provides services to Gowerton , Horton, Llangennith, Llanmadoc, Llanrhidian, Oxwich , Penclawdd , Port Eynon , Reynoldston and Rhossili . The service was launched in 2004 after a 575,500 transport grant from the Welsh Assembly Government . Swansea Council used this grant to buy a fleet of six buses four larger ones for the main routes and two small ones for the peninsula s tricky narrow lanes. Two east west trunk routes and a linking north south shuttle serve almost every village in the Gower, a prime tourist area west of Swansea. In June 2010, Swansea Council announced withdrawal of bus subsidies to save 200,000 and the Gower Explorer will run on a commercial basis from July 19th 2010. Evening services will be severely curtailed and Sunday service on the northern trunk route will be withdrawn. Awards The success of the Gower Explorer, most notably a rise in passengers on the southern route of 18.4 , while north Gower has seen a 16.5 increase, saw the service receive a prestigious The Guardian Guardian Transport award in 2006. Miller, BBC Pronouncing Dictionary of British Names Oxford UP, 1971 , p. 92. ref lang cy Afon Llwchwr in Carmarthenshire , Wales has its source at an underground lake at the Black Mountain range Black Mountain . It flows past settlements like Ammanford and Hendy in Carmarthenshire and Pontarddulais in Swansea . The river divides Carmarthenshire from Swansea for much of its course and it separates Hendy from Pontarddulais at the point where the river becomes tidal. The Loughor meets the sea at its estuary near the town of Loughor where it separates the south coast of Carmarthenshire from the north coast of the Gower Peninsula . Among its tributaries is the River Amman , which joins the Loughor near Pantyffynnon . In the 18th century, the river was a noted salmon and sea trout river. Fish from the river was then carried on ponies to be sold at Swansea Market . The fishing declined in the 19th century due to increasing pollution from industrialisation. Carmarthenshire County Council is currently undertaking studies into the possibility of constructing a barrage across the River Loughor upstream from the Loughor bridges.
