RhodriabOwainGwynedd 1135? 1195 was prince of part of Kingdom of GwyneddGwynedd , one of the kingdoms of medieval Wales . He ruled from 1175 to 1195. On the death of OwainGwynedd in 1170, fighting broke out among his nineteen sons over the division of his kingdom. Rhodri and his brother Dafydd abOwainGwynedd , Owain s legitimate sons by his wife Cristina, defeated and killed their half brother Hywel abOwainGwynedd at Pentraeth that year. The other sons were largely killed or exiled between 1170 and 1174. Rhodri acquired part of Gwynedd, but soon afterwards came under pressure from his brother Dafydd who captured and imprisoned him. In 1175 Rhodri escaped from captivity and was able to gain enough support to drive Dafydd out of the part of Gwynedd situated west of the River Conwy . Gruffudd abOwain Glynd r c.1375 c.1412 was the eldest son of Margaret Hanmer and Owain Glynd r the disinherited Prince of the old Royal house of Powys Fadog who led a major revolt in Wales between 1400 and c.1416. Early life Little is known about any of the children of Owain Glynd r. Gruffudd is recorded as being Owain s eldest son and would be heir to the crown of Wales had his father s rebellion ultimately been successful in creating an independent Wales . Role in the Rebellion He is known to have taken part in a raid in south Wales in 1406, alongside his uncle Tudur ap Gruffudd , and another rebel Captain Rhys Gethin . They were defeated by Prince Henry of Monmouth, later to become King Henry V or possibly John Talbot, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury . The exact place and date of this battle is subject to dispute, but the Annals of Owain Glyndwr call it the Battle of Pwll Melyn , near Usk . The result appears to have been a major Welsh defeat, the capture of Gruffudd abOwain Glynd r, and the deaths of Tudur and Rhys Gethin. Imprisonment and death He was sent to the Tower of London and after six years died in prison of bubonic plague . It is not known if he was married or had sired any children of his own. Maredudd abOwainab Edwin died 1072 was a prince of the kingdom of Deheubarth in south west Wales . Maredudd was the son of Owainab Edwin and of the line of Hywel Dda . The kingdom had been taken from this family by Gruffydd ap Llywelyn , who united almost all Wales under his rule, but on Gruffydd s death in 1063 Maredudd reclaimed Deheubarth for the original dynasty. During Maredydd s reign the Normans Norman conquest of south east Wales began. After a few attempts to halt this, Maredydd decided not to resist the Norman encroachment on Kingdom of Gwent Gwent and was rewarded with lands in England in 1070. In 1072 he was killed in a battle by the river Rhymni. He was succeeded by his brother, Rhys abOwain . He had one son, Gruffydd ap Maredudd, who lived in England on his father s lands there for some years before being killed trying to recapture his father s kingdom from Rhys ap Tewdwr .
