The Kamloops Indian Residential School was part of the Canadian residential school system and one of the 130 boarding schools for First Nations children that operated in Canada between 1874 and 1996. The Kamloops School was opened in 1893 initially as the Kamloops Industrial School and continued operation until 1977. Hundreds of Secwepemc children attended the school, often forcibly removed from their homes once attendance became mandatory by law. Children were not allowed to speak their native Secwepemctsin language or practice their own spirituality. The school still stands today. Fixed Term rental agreements are strict binding contacts that outline the terms of a property rental for a set period of time usually one year.
