Unreferenced date May 2007 Business acquisition is the process of acquiring a company to build on strengths or weaknesses of the acquiring company. A merger is similar to an acquisition but refers more strictly to combining all of the interests of both companies in to a stronger single company. The end result is to grow the business in a quicker and more profitable manner than normal organic growth would allow. Process The process begins with defining the type of business that would make a good acquisition. Generally businesses within the same segment or a highly complementary market segment are targeted. Once defined the target business is approached and if interest is shown due diligence is performed to ascertain the financial condition of the business. When the financial terms are agreed upon, and the contract is signed the merger portion of the acquisition begins. Overlapping processes, personnel and products are evaluated and the better performing pieces are retained, while the Single business acquisitions and split and sell A single acquisition refers to one company buying the assets and operations of another company and absorbing what is needed while simply discarding duplicated or unnecessary pieces of the acquired business. Split and sell acquisitions involve buying an entire business in order to gain one or two pieces of the business. The acquiring business may wish to retain the customer list and a product line, while moving manufacturing and other production related duties to an existing line. In this case the excess is often sold off to recapture some of the acquisition cost.. Affiliate acquisitions Businesses that use affiliates to sell and market their products may find themselves in the position of losing control of the marketing portion. 1. Controlled release

Controlled release is a term referring to the presentation or delivery of compounds in response to stimuli or time. This can be for purposes in several areas including agriculture, cosmetics and personal care, pharmaceuticals and food science. Most commonly it refers to time release technology time dependent release in oral dose formulations. time release technology Timed release has several distinct variants such as sustained release where prolonged release is intended, pulse release, delayed release e.g. to target different regions of the GI tract etc. A distinction of controlled release is that not only prolongs action but it attempts to maintain drug levels within the therapeutic window to avoid potentially hazardous peaks in drug concentration following ingestion or injection and to maximize therapeutic efficiency. The science of controlled release originates from the development of oral sustained release products in the late 1940s and early 1950s, the development of controlled release of marine anti foulants in the 1950s and controlled release fertilizer in the 1970 s where sustained and controlled delivery of nutrients following a single application to the soil. Delivery is usually effected by dissolution, degradation or disintegration of an excipient in which the active compound is formulated. Enteric coating and other encapsulation technologies can further modify release profiles. 1. Controlled airspace

Unreferenced date October 2009 Controlled airspace is an aviation term used to describe airspace in which air traffic control ATC has the authority to control air traffic, the level of which varies with the different classes of airspace. Controlled airspace is established mainly for three different reasons high volume air traffic areas, e.g. near airports IFR traffic under ATC guidance security, e.g. ADIZ It is the opposite of uncontrolled airspace . Controlled airspace usually exists in the immediate vicinity of busier airports, where aircraft used in commercial air transport flights are climbing out from or making an approach to the airport, or at higher levels where air transport flights would tend to cruise. Some countries also provide controlled airspace almost generally, however in most countries it is common to provide uncontrolled airspace in areas where significant air transport or military activity is not expected. ICAO classifies airspace in seven classes from airspace classes classes A to G . Controlled airspace is classes A to E, in order of decreasing ATC regulation of flights. Flight under instrument flight rules IFR is allowed in all controlled airspace some countries also permit IFR in uncontrolled airspace flight under visual flight rules VFR is permitted in all airspace except A.
