Refimprove date July 2007 Proto industrialisation also spelled proto industrialization is a phase in the development of modern industrial economies that preceded, and created conditions for, the establishment of fully industrial societies. Proto industrialization was marked by the increasing involvement of agrarian families in market oriented craft production, mainly through the putting out system organized by merchant capitalists. Initially using surplus labor available during slow periods of the agricultural seasons, proto industrialization led to specialization in both industrial production as well as commercial agricultural production. This allowed reciprocal trade favored by regional economies of scale . It resulted in accumulation of capital and the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills by merchant capitalists, which facilitated the development of large scale, capital intensive production methods in the full industrialization phase that followed. Proto industrialization sparked social changes in traditional agrarian societies that would become more marked during full industrialization, such as greater independence of women and children who gained a means of income separate from the family subsistence farm . Phylogeny The phylogenetic analyses of the few genes that are still encoded in the genomes of modern mitochondria suggest an alpha proteobacteria l nature for this endosymbiont . Although the order Rickettsiales has been proposed as the alpha proteobacteria l sister group of mitochondria , there is no definitive evidence as to from which alpha proteobacteria l group the proto mitochondrion emerged. Metabolism Toni Gabald n and Martijn Huynen 2003 reconstructed the proteome and corresponding metabolism of the proto mitochondrion by comparing extant alpha proteobacterial and eukaryotic genomes. They concluded that this organism was an Aerobic organism aerobic alpha proteobacterium catabolyzing lipids, glycerol and other compounds provided by the host. At least 630 gene families derived from this organism can still be found in the 9 eukaryotic genome s analyzed in the study. Unreferenced date January 2007 Orphan date February 2009 Proto civilisation British spelling is the transitional state between a society structured as a collection of tribal chieftains, perhaps owing allegiance to a paramount chief, and the development of a full urban civilisation, in which people live in a graded hierarchy of settlement types perhaps starting with isolated peasant farms, hamlets or small villages, through market towns, to centralised capital cities or ceremonial centres. It is an important stage in the genesis of a civilisation, but historically appears to be an unstable threshold, often reverting back to tribal or chieftain cultures if unable to progress to a full blown and semi stable civilisation. Examples of proto civilisations are found preceding the development of almost all civilisations, but there are also examples of many proto civilisations that failed to generate a separate civilisation. For example the La Tene Celt ic culture of oppida , stretching from such sites as at Hueneburg in Southern Germany, to the Belgae kingdoms of Southern Britain, show many of the characteristics of a proto civilisation including the settlement hierarchy already mentioned, the development of an upper princely class having a monopoly on institutionalised violence, the development of specialised functionaries, artisans and craftspeople. It is quite possible that this development would have led to a fully Celtic civilisation, if the areas had not been conquered by the Romans and included as the western part of the Roman Empire . The proto civilization sites have achieved much and made a big impact on today s society. In North America , the Mississippian culture is believed to have produced proto civilizations at such sites as Cahokia in Illinois , Moundville Archaeological Site Moundville in Alabama , and Etowah Indian Mounds Etowah in Georgia U.S. State Georgia .
