The EastIndies is an ornamental breed of domestic duck . Despite the breed s name, it was not developed in Southeast Asia, but rather in the United States in the 19th century. Sometimes called the Black EastIndies , it is best known for its striking appearance very dark, lustrous green plumage and black bills. Females may sometimes develop white feathers as they age. A Bantam chicken bantam breed weighing around 1 2 pounds 453 907 grams , EastIndies are largely kept by fanciers for Poultry show exhibition purposes. Being small in size, they are relatively good fliers. Admitted to American Poultry Association s Standard of Perfection in 1874, EastIndies are popular among breeders. citations date February 2010 Netherlands EastIndies Forces Intelligence Service also known by the acronym NEFIS , was a Dutch World War II era intelligence and special operations unit operating mainly in the Japanese occupied Netherlands EastIndies now Indonesia . Soon after the evacuation from the Dutch EastIndies, a Dutch intelligence service was set up in Australia on the instructions of the Dutch Commander of the forces in the East, Helfrich. It was called the Netherlands Forces Intelligence Service NEFIS , and was based in Melbourne . The service initially consisted of two divisions NEFIS I, responsible for military reporting, and NEFIS II, responsible for security. NEFIS I gathered reports, maps, publications and photos on the Dutch EastIndies. On the basis of this information, monthly summaries were issued on the situation in the archipelago. NEFIS II was responsible for censoring the mail of Royal Netherlands Navy and KNIL personnel. It also checked whether the spouses of Dutch troops in Australia presented a security risk. It was not involved in carrying out secret intelligence operations. That was the task of the Inter Allied Services Department ISD , which was set up in April 1942 on the instructions of US General Douglas MacArthur , and was responsible for sending out agents to commit sabotage and gather intelligence in occupied areas. Two Dutch officers were assigned to the Dutch EastIndies section, which, like NEFIS, was based in Melbourne. History of Indonesia The Liberal Period refers to the economic polices instituted in the Dutch EastIndies from the mid nineteenth century. Background the cultivation system main Cultivation system Under the cultivation system or forced plantation in Indonesian in place for most of the nineteenth century, the Dutch colonial government in the Indonesian archipelago required indigenous farmers to deliver, as a sort of tax, fixed amounts of specified crops, such as sugar or coffee.
