    Christophorus III lang ka III , K ristep ore III March 27, 1873 January 10, 1932 was a Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia from 1927 until his death. He was born as Kristepore Tsitskishvili near the town of Kharagauli . Having graduated from the Tiflis Theological Seminary in 1895, he served as a priest in the Transcaspian Region Trans Caspian region , and later in Georgia. At the same time, he taught theology and Georgian, and was energetically involved in the movement which led to the restoration of autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Church in 1917. Christophorus was consecrated as a bishop of Urbnisi 1921 1925 and metropolitan bishop metropolitan of Abkhazia 1925 1927 . Elected as the catholicos patriarch on June 4, 1927, he had to lead the Georgian church as it withstood harsh pressure from the Soviet Union Soviet authorities.     Catholicos&ndash Patriarch has been the title of the heads of the Georgian Orthodox Church since 1010. The first Catholicos&ndash Patriarch of All Georgia was Melkisedek I 1010&ndash 1030 . In the 15th century the Georgian Orthodox Church was divided into the East and the West parts and accordingly they were ruled by the Catholicos&ndash Patriarch of East Georgia and the Catholicos&ndash Patriarch of West Georgia. In 475, a rebellion brought about the return of Timothy Aelurus but he died only two years later in 477.     Patriarch Gregory III , surnamed Mammis or ammas , was Ecumenical Patriarch during the period 1443 1450. Few things are known about his life and his patriarchate. Not even his surname is certain, with the names Mammis or Mammas being probably mocking appellations.
