He served Georgia U.S. state Georgia as a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1777 and as the List of governors of Georgia 14th Governor of Georgia in 1781. Nathan was the sixth of ten children born to Timothy 1701 1766 and Abgail Jenner 1707 1784 Brownson and was born in Woodbury, Connecticut . He graduated from Yale University Yale in 1761 and studied medicine before moving to Georgia. He settled in Liberty County, Georgia in 1764 and began his medical practice. Brownson was married twice first, in 1769, to Elizabeth Lewis, who died in 1775 then to Elizabeth McLean in 1776. There were two children from the second marriage. He died in 1796 in Riceboro, Georgia and was buried in Midway Cemetery in Midway, Georgia .
