    The Nuffield Foundation is a United Kingdom British charitable trust , established in 1943 by William Morris, 1st Viscount Nuffield William Morris Lord Nuffield, 1877 1963 , the founder of the Morris Motor Company . Lord Nuffield wanted to contribute to improvements in society, including the expansion of education and the alleviation of disadvantage. He called this the advancement of social well being , and emphasised the importance of education, training and research in achieving that goal.     Nuffield Press is a former part of the UK s automotive manufacturer Nuffield Organisation British Motor Corporation BMC The Nuffield Press Limited was placed into Administration on 27 June 2011. The company had been founded in 1925 by William Morris, later Lord Nuffield, as The Morris Oxford Press, at the former military college in Cowley to produce the periodical Morris Owner. It was later bought by Robert Maxwell but sold in 2000 to a management buy out. At it s peak the Nuffield Press used more than 1,000 tons of paper a year producing literature, manuals, magazines, diaries and posters.
