The flag was designed by Nguy n H u Ti n, a communist revolutionary of the 1940 Cochinchina Uprising Nam K Kh i ngh a against French colonialism , when the flag was seen on the first time. The uprising failed, and Ti n was arrested and executed along with other leaders of the uprising. The Western heraldry heraldic blazon is Gules, a mullet Or .
