Marion Partridge n e Saltmarsh was a character in the novel Peyton Place novel Peyton Place and in the subsequent film. In the film, Marion was played by actress Peg Hillias. Marion Saltmarsh was born an unknown seaside community in New Hampshire, and met her future husband, Charles Partridge, fresh from law school, when he visited her father s Baptist church. They married, and eventually moved to the community of Peyton Place, where he became the town s most prominent lawyer. After her marriage, she deserted the Baptists, whom she had been affiliated with since she was a little girl and joined the congregationalists, for she thought that they were the best church in town. As she became part of the Peyton Place Community, she became more interested in possessing things, rather than cherishing what she had. She and Roberta Carter, although the latter didn t live on Chestnut Street, which was the most desirable street in Peyton Place, became best friends. Marion was well known for being extremely judgmental towards people who didn t meet up to her extremely high standards. She had a lot of animosity towards people she didn t necessarily like, most notably Constance MacKenzie and her daughter, Allison MacKenzie Allison . Marion always believed that she was the paragon of morals and virtue, but in reality, she was extremely cruel to those she didn t like also she was more than a little bit selfish. One of her most frequent enemies was Dr. Matthew Swain , Peyton Place s doctor, who incidentally was one of her husband s closest friends. She had no liking for his way of telling her ... the book, was very selfish. Cleanup date January 2009 Charlotte Partridge and her life partner Miriam Frink founded the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1920. The two women worked for over 30 years to build the Layton School, which started in the basement of the Frederick Layton Gallery and later moved to a building on Milwaukee s east side. Partridge was the head of curriculum and instruction and the more public face, while the quieter and more reserved Miriam Frink, who also taught, headed the business side of the school and took care of any disciplinary issues. During Great Depression years both women made great sacrifices like forgoing their own salaries to do so. They built a house together in what was then rural Mequon, Wisconsin Mequon . This partridge has its main native range from Egypt and Palestine east to south Arabian Peninsula Arabia . It is closely related and similar to its counterpart in southeast Turkey and east to Pakistan , the See see Partridge , Ammoperdix griseogularis . This 22 25 cm bird is a resident breeder in dry, open and often hilly country. It nests in a scantily lined ground scrape laying 5 7 eggs. The Sand Partridge takes a wide variety of seeds and some insect food. The Sand Partridge is a rotund bird, mainly sandy brown with wavy white and brown flank stripes. The male has a grey head with a white stripe in front of the eye and a white cheek patch. The neck sides are plain, and not speckled with white. The head pattern is the best distinction from See see Partridge. The female is a very washed out version of the male, and is more difficult to distinguish from its relative due to the weak head pattern. When disturbed, Sand Partridge prefers to run rather than fly, but if necessary it flies a short distance on rounded wings. The song is a slurred kwa kwa kwa .
