Screening culture is a type a medical test that is done to find an infection . Screening cultures are often performed to find infections that do not have signs and symptoms . Types of screening cultures Perinatal Group B Streptococcal Disease comes from an intrauterine infection of the fetus from the spread of Group B Streptococcus from the vagina of a colonized woman who is typically asymptomatic. Medical research Medical studies show that prenatal screening cultures reduce the incidence of Perinatal Group B Streptococcal Disease. Studies of single institutions or health maintenance organization s show institutions with a culture based screening policy have close to 90 of delivering women with documented GBS screening, and close to 90 of GBS positive women received intrapartum antibiotics . ref Hafner Cost effectiveness analyses of the screening and risk based strategies have indicated that although the initial costs associated with specimen collection and processing make the screening strategy more expensive than the risk based approach, the overall cost savings due to disease prevention do not differ importantly between strategies. ref Pediatrics Intensive care units of major hospitals routinely provide nasal, groin or axilla swabs for screening of Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus MRSA or Multi resistant organisms MRO . Unreferenced stub auto yes date December 2009 Screening in economics refers to a strategy of combating adverse selection , one of the potential decision making complications in cases of asymmetric information . The concept of screening is first developed by Michael Spence 1973 , and should be distinguished from Signalling economics signalling , which implies that the informed agent moves first. For purposes of screening, asymmetric information cases assume two Agent economics economic agent s&mdash which we call, for example, Abel and Cain&mdash where Abel knows more about himself than Cain knows about Abel. The agents are attempting to engage in some sort of Database transaction transaction , often involving a long term relationship, though that qualifier is not necessary. The screener the one with less information, in this case, Cain attempts to rectify this asymmetry by learning as much as he can about Abel. The actual screening process depends on the nature of the scenario, but is usually closely connected with the future relationship. In education economics , screening models are commonly contrasted with human capital theory. In a screening model used to determine an applicant s ability to learn, giving preference to applicants who have earned academic degrees reduces the employer s risk of hiring someone with a diminished capacity for learning. refimprove date March 2011 Stochastic screening or FM screening is a halftone process based on Pseudorandomness pseudo random distribution of halftone dots, using frequency modulation FM to change the density of dots according to the gray level desired. Traditional amplitude modulation halftone screening is based on a geometric and fixed spacing of dots, which vary in size depending on the tone color represented for example, from 10 to 200 micrometre s . The stochastic screening or FM screening instead uses a fixed size of dots for example, about 25 micrometres and a distribution density that varies depending on the color s tone. The technique of stochastic screening, which has existed since the seventies, Citation needed date March 2011 has had a revival in recent times thanks to increased use of Computer to plate computer to plate CTP techniques. In previous techniques, computer to film , during the exposure there could be a drastic variation in the quality of the plate. It was a very delicate and difficult procedure that was not much used. Today, with CTP during the creation of the plate you just need to check a few parameters on the density and tonal correction curve. When you make a plate with stochastic screening you must use a tone correction curve, this curve allows one to align the tone reproduction of an FM screen to that of an industry standard. Given the same final presswork ... frequencies. The creation of a plate with stochastic screening is done the same way as is done with an AM ... screening to conventional AM FM tone reproductions targets e.g. ISO 12647 2 . Advantages The screening ... it eliminates screening moir . FM screening does not create rosette patterns. Halftone dot sizes ... eliminated, but the effect is certainly less apparent than in the traditional screening, this feature ... such as web growth. The use of FM screening allowed Archant , a UK regional publisher, to switch ... used in FM screening require special care and cleanliness, especially when plates are made from ... more details
