Citations missing date June 2008 Nervous laughter is laughter evoked from an audience s expression of embarrassment, alarm, or confusion, rather than amusement . Nervous laughter is usually less robust in expression than a good belly laugh , and may be combined with confused glances or awkward silence on the part of others in the audience. Nervous laughter is considered analogous to a courtesy laugh , which may be rendered by more of a conscious effort in an attempt to move a situation along more quickly, especially when the comedian is pausing for laughter. Unhealthy or nervous laughter comes from the throat. This nervous laughter is not true laughter, but an expression of tension and anxiety. Instead of relaxing a person, nervous laughter tightens them up even further. DEFAULTSORT Nervous Laughter Category Laughter Psychology stub ... more details

Image Peripheral nerve, cross section.jpg thumbnail Example of nervous tissue. Nervous tissue is one of four major classes of vertebrate tissue biology tissue . Nervous tissue is the main component of the nervous system the brain, spinal cord, and nerves which regulates and controls body functions. It is composed of neuron s, which transmit impulses, and the neuroglia cells, which assist propagation of the nerve impulse as well as provide nutrients to the neuron. Nervous tissue is made of nerve cells that come in many varieties, all of which are distinctly characteristic by the axon or long stem like part of the cell that sends action potential signals to the next cell. Functions of the nervous system are sensory input, integration, controls of muscles and glands, homeostasis, and mental activity. All living cells have the ability to react to stimuli. Nervous tissue is specialized to react to stimuli and to conduct impulses to various organs in the body which bring about a response to the stimulus. Nerve tissue as in the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves that branch throughout the body are all made up of specialized nerve cells called neurons . Neurons are easily stimulated and transmit impulses very rapidly. A nerve is made up of many nerve cell fibers neurons bound together by connective tissue. A sheath of dense connective tissue, the epineurium surrounds the nerve. This sheath penetrates the nerve to form the perineurium which surrounds bundles of nerve fibers. It wasn t until writing this synopsis that we finally noticed, a year after its release, that track 3 I m Jim Fixx And I m Dead Now is misspelt on the rear cover where Fixx s name shows only one X rather than the two required. This continues a long tradition of erroneous information on Fauves track listings and highlights our appalling proofreading skills. ref http www.thefauves.com The Fauves website discography ref Track listing all songs by The Fauves True Love Waits 3 57 I ll Work When I m Dead 3 33 I m Jim Fixx and I m Dead Now 4 27 Down All Day 3 28 I Am Not Approachable 3 27 Trouble 3 21 Actress and Bishop David Coverdale 7 05 Something Spooked the Horses 4 12 The Lost Art of Shorthand 3 06 Clive of India Curry Powder 3 38 Australian Gigolo 4 12 We Sleep in the Afternoon 4 36 Personnel Andrew Cox Guitar, vocals Philip Leonard Guitar, vocals Adam Newey Drums, vocals Timothy Cleaver Bass, vocals References reflist Category The Fauves albums Category 2006 albums ... more details

Semi autobiographical, it is set in the post colonial Rhodesia of the 1960s. The title is taken from the introduction by Jean Paul Sartre to Frantz Fanon s The Wretched of the Earth . Publishing history When Dangarembga first offered her novel to major southern African publishers, the response was a cool one. Her book, they declared, failed to capture the thoughts and language of the African woman and could not, therefore, connect with her. Raj Patel has since denounced this as a non sequitur . ref Patel 1999. ref Plot summary The story is told by and from the perspective of Tambudzai, a young Shona people Shona girl living in a small village in Rhodesia, whose own story begins with the death of her brother, Nhamo. For other persons named Jim Drake, see Jim Drake Nervous Norvus was the performing name of Jimmy Drake 1912 in the Oakwood district of Los Angeles, California July 24, 1968 . His novelty song Transfusion was a major chart topper hit in 1956, as was a second song , Ape Call, released later that year. The lyrics in his song called Transfusion concern a careless driver who cheerfully receives blood transfusions after each accident. Graphic sounds of a car crash are included after each verse. Each stanza concludes with the refrain Never never never gonna speed again followed by lines such as Slip the blood to me, Bud or Pour the crimson in me, Jimson. The song was banned on many radio stations of the 50s. The song was later played on the radio by Disc jockey DJ Barry Hansen, which reportedly led to Hansen s eventual nickname of Dr. Demento . A car crash sound effect from this song can be heard on Dead Man s Curve by Jan and Dean . The song received a review from an unlikely source  &mdash personal injury lawyer Melvin Belli   &mdash in his 1956 book Ready for the Plaintiff , in which he says The ghoulish lyrics hiccup hysterically but wind up with a gem of jive y wisdom that is strictly in the groove Oh, barnyard drivers are found in two classes Line crowding hogs and speeding jackasses So remember to slow down today There was irony too, as Drake was employed as a truck driver , prior to his recording fame arising. Nervous Norvus was born before World War I started, and was over 40 by the time he had his two hit single music singles in 1956.
