Broadcast simultaneously to numerous sites across the continent on Tuesday nights, the game is heavily weighted to academic content in the traditional arts and sciences. The game Players use the provided Playmaker boxes to log their answers. The game is broken into six rounds of multiple choice questions five choices for each question , each round having its own set of rules. The Warm up round is ten questions worth 500 points each on an all or nothing basis for each answer. The Countdown round offers twelve questions worth up to 1000 points each, but on a timed basis. The quicker a person logs in the correct answer, the more points he or she will receive. Hints appear periodically to point the player away from incorrect answers, and finally to the correct answer.
