Due to the inability of the first stage to relay this to the upper stage, 375 seconds into the flight the rocket attempted to jettison the first stage while it was still burning. Recontact between the stages led to the second stage being unable to manoeuvre to the necessary attitude for its burn, resulting in the vehicle achieving a uselessly elliptical orbit.
