otheruses Mysteries disambiguation The Mysteries is a version of the medieval English mystery plays presented at London s Royal National Theatre National Theatre in 1977. The cycle of three plays tells the story of the Bible from the creation to the last judgement. It is based largely on the Wakefield Cycle Wakefield cycle of plays but incorporating some scenes from the York Mystery Plays York , Chester Mystery Plays Chester and Coventry Mystery Plays Coventry canons and adapted by poet Tony Harrison , working with the original cast, into three parts Nativity , The Passion and Doomsday. Directed by Bill Bryden , it was first performed on Easter Saturday 1977 on the terrace of the National Theatre building on the South Bank, London. It then went into the repertoire in the Cottesloe Theatre part of the South Bank complex later in 1985 transferring to the Lyceum Theatre London Lyceum Theatre then in use as a ballroom and so without seating. cleanup date September 2011 no footnotes date September 2011 S Chips Scandals relates to corporate scandals surrounding Chinese companies listed on the Singapore Exchange . Embezzlement, forgery, accounting fraud had been the order of the day. Frauds were perpetrated by Chinese citizens and facilitated by mostly Singaporean and Malaysian securities promoters. Receivership processes have been stalled by uncooperative management and employees of mainland China subsidiaries. In addition, local Chinese authorities have made it difficult for the receiver to take possession of and manage the mainland China subsidiaries, including the sell off of their assets. Since all of these Chinese companies have their business operations in mainland China, prosecution by Singaporean authorities of Chinese perpetrators will be difficult since there is not extradition treaty between China and Singapore. ref http www.forbes.com feeds afx 2008 09 18 afx5445263.html ref ref http www.forbes.com feeds afx 2009 03 26 afx6220631.html ref ref http online.wsj.com article SB123668027115082001.html ref ref http www.asiaone.com Business News My 2BMoney Story A1Story20090901 164917.html ref ref http www.asiaone.com Business My 2BMoney Opinion Story A1Story20090722 156335.html ref ref http www.businesstimes.com.sg sub views story 0,4574,321559,00.html&ei W6zmStzeL4OlgAeozuH2Dg&usg AFQjCNFGiUOEvmEX84BXxZHdFnvG6TyNyQ ref ref http www.businesstimes.com.sg mnt html btpre registration redirect.jsp?dlink sub premiumstory 0,4574,343358 BTMarketsIPOWatch 1252785540,00.html?&ei 9q3mSoSvCpHSgQf o8D2Dg&usg AFQjCNFoQUYLPRD l pl6Oo1Y1qO43Mf3Q ref ref http business.asiaone.com Business News My 2BMoney Story A1Story20090831 ... between the S Chips Scandals, the series of P Chips Frauds bankruptcy failures of P chip ... The Mysteries of London is a penny dreadful or city mysteries novel begun by George W. M. Reynolds in 1844 . Reynolds wrote the first two series of this long running narrative of life in the seedy underbelly of mid nineteenth century London . Thomas Miller poet Thomas Miller wrote the third series and Edward L. Blanchard wrote the fourth series of this immensely popular title. Michael Angelo in Penny Dreadfuls and Other Victorian Horrors writes blockquote Reynolds had read Eugene Sue while in Paris and was particularly impressed by his novel Les Myst res de Paris The Mysteries of Paris . It inspired Reynolds to write and publish a penny part serial The Mysteries of London 1845 , in which he paralleled Sue s tale of vice, depravity, and squalor in the Parisian slums with a sociological story contrasting the vice and degradation of London working class life with the luxury and debaucheries of the hedonistic upper crust. An early socialist and a Chartism Chartist sympathizer, Reynolds had a genuine social conscience, and he contrived to stitch into the pages of his books diatribes against social evil s and class inequities. 79 blockquote Instalments were published weekly and contained a single illustration and eight pages of text printed in double columns. The weekly numbers were later bound in cloth covers with a fresh title page and table of contents and offered as complete works of fiction. After Reynolds quit The Mysteries of London , he began a new title The Mysteries of the Court of London , which ran from 1848 until 1856 . The term sacred mysteries generally denotes the area of supernatural phenomena associated with a divinity or a religious belief religious ideology . Pre Christian religious mysteries off topic Main Greco Roman mysteries The mystery religions of antiquity were religious cults which required initiation before a participant was accepted. They included the Eleusinian Mysteries , Mithraism , the Isis Cult of Isis , and the Sol Invictus Cult of Sol Invictus . Mystery traditions were popular in ancient Greece and during the height of the Roman Empire , and may have influenced the introduction of sacred mysteries in Christianity.
