  1. Workbench (woodworking)

Image basicbench.jpg right thumb 300px A basic bench A Workbench is a table used by woodworking woodworkers to hold workpieces while they are worked by other tools. There are many styles of woodworking benches, each reflecting the type of work to be done or the craftsman s way of working. Most benches have two features in common they are heavy and rigid enough to keep still while the wood is being worked, and there is some method for holding the work in place at a comfortable position and height so that the worker is free to use both hands on the tools. The main thing that distinguishes benches is the way in which the work is held in place. Most benches have more than one way to do this, depending on the operation being performed. Background Empty section date June 2008 Holding the work Planing stop Probably the oldest and most basic method of holding the work is a plane tool planing stop or dog ear, which is simply a peg or small piece of wood or metal that stands just above the surface at the end of the bench top. The work is placed on the bench with the end pushed against the stop. The force of the planing keeps the board in place, so long as the force is always toward the stop. 1. Comparison of MySQL database engines

This is a comparison between the two primary database engines InnoDB and MyISAM for the MySQL database management system DBMS . A database engine or storage engine is the underlying software component that a DBMS uses to create, read, update and delete CRUD data from a database . POV date October 2011 refimprove date March 2010 Comparison between InnoDB and MyISAM InnoDB recovers from a crash or other unexpected shutdown by replaying its logs. MyISAM must fully scan and repair or rebuild any indexes or possibly tables which had been updated but not fully flushed to disk. Since the InnoDB approach is approximately fixed time while the MyISAM time grows with the size of the data files, InnoDB offers greater availability as database sizes grow. InnoDB, with innodb flush log at trx commit set to 1, flushes the transaction log after each transaction, greatly improving reliability. ref name trx commit http dev.mysql.com doc refman 5.5 en innodb parameters.html sysvar innodb flush log at trx commit MySQL 5.5 Reference Manual InnoDB Startup Options and System Variables ref MyISAM has to be run ...
