orphan date November 2008 Multi Registry System acronym MRS is a term used to describe a scalable network design applicable to the use of multiple community currencies and similar book keeping arrangements by a number of users identified through multiple registries. The term multi registry system also applies to an individual community currency operated within the context of an MRS network, where the user accounts comprising the individual currency are distributed over more than one registry. The specific design for MRS which was originated by Richard Kay circa 1995 requires use of Internet Domain Name System DNS type names for objects within this network in order to guarantee globally unique object naming and to enable the routing of financial transactions carried by this network. MRS namable objects include registry and user account identifiers and currency identifiers. The benefits of this approach to community currency network design are considered to include unification of transaction mechanisms and user interfaces concerned with use of multiple currency accounts, and avoidance of single points of control or failure within the community currency transaction processing network. This specific design also involves the use of currency audit servers, enabling the set of account based transactions comprising a community currency to be audited as a whole. In computing MPFS Multi Protocol File System is a multi path NAS network filesystem technology developed by EMC. MPFS is intended to allow hundreds to thousands of client computer nodes to access shared computer data with higher performance than conventional NAS file sharing protocols such as Network File System protocol NFS . Application MPFS technology is intended for HPC High Performance Computing environments. In these environments many computer nodes require concurrent access to data sets. This technology can be used to store and access data for grid computing , where the individual computing power of many systems is combined to perform a single process. Example uses include processing geological data, voice recognition datasets, and modal processing. Virtualized computing environments will also benefit from high performance shared storage. Benefits MPFS provides a 3 4X performance increase over conventional NAS. No modifications to the client application need to be made to leverage this technology. Files can be shared between NAS clients with or without NFS simultaneously. NAS data can be accessed at speeds limited only by the storage device. Reduced file system and protocol overhead Image MPFSi protocol overhead.gif How it works MPFS consists of an agent on the client system and a compatible NAS storage system. The client agent splits the data and meta data for the file being requested. This is done using an FMP File Mapping Protocol Requests for the data and its location is sent over conventional NFS to the NAS system. Data is sent and retrieved directly from the storage device via iSCSI or Fibre Channel . Retrieving the data directly from the storage device increases performance by eliminating the file system and protocol overhead associated with NFS or CIFS. Chrysler s Multi Displacement System MDS is an automobile engine variable displacement technology. It debuted in 2004 on the 5.7  L Chrysler Hemi engine modern Hemi V8 . Like Mercedes Benz s Active Cylinder Control , General Motors Corporation General Motors Active Fuel Management , and Honda s Variable Cylinder Management , it deactivates four of the V8 s cylinders when the throttle is closed or at steady speeds. The system was first offered only on passenger cars, since the heavy demands of trucks would interfere with its operation. However, it was recalibrated for 2006 and will be offered on all seven models, including SUV s and 1500 series trucks, using the 5.7  L engine. Chrysler expects that the technology will boost economy by 10 to 20 . In the Jeep Grand Cherokee with MDS, highway fuel mileage for the V8 is the same as the V6 at 21  mpg 11.2 liters per 100  km . In order to preserve the characteristic rumble of the V8 engines, Chrysler and Eberspaecher North America designed a special exhaust system for MDS equipped vehicles. This includes four separate mufflers, two large central ones for V8 mode and two smaller ones near the tailpipes for four cylinder mode. Unlike the system used on Mercedes Benz V12 engine V12 engines, also designed by Eberspaecher, the system is mechanically passive. Originally formed to oust the previous government, MMD controlled an absolute majority in parliament between 1991 and 2001, when its past leader, Frederick Chiluba was president of the country. Its election into power in 1991 ended the 27 year rule of the United National Independence Party of former president Kenneth Kaunda . It remains the dominant party within Zambian politics. It is a center left political party. Party Genesis and the first election In 1990, growing opposition to UNIP s monopoly on power, due in part to food shortages and a general economic decline led to the rise of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy MMD . Begun as a coalition party with the specific goal of ousting UNIP, MMD gradually assembled an increasingly impressive group of important Zambians, including prominent UNIP defectors and labour leaders. During that same year, pushed by internal and international pressure, President Kaunda agreed to a referendum on the one party state but, in the face of continued opposition, dropped the referendum and signed a constitutional amendment making Zambia a multiparty state. Politics of Uganda Uganda ns voted to restore a multiparty political system in a constitutional referendum held on 28 July 2005. Political parties were barred from competing in elections for nearly 20 years in order to curb sectarian tensions.
