West Marine was located in the boat yard by the side of the River Neb at the top of Peel harbour, in the Isle of Man . Their products included an 18 foot Peel Inshoreman boat nicknamed the Peel Pig . They were a simple small fishing boat with an outboard engine and a small Cuddy cabin cuddy forward. These where made at a factory in Jurby at the North of the Isle of Man . These craft had a forward 2 Berth cabin, a 2 berth mid cabin which doubled up as a galley saloon, and a separate head. The wheelhouse was open to the rear straight onto the deck. There were only supposed to be three of these ever made, to qualify for a Isle of Man Government business grant, which was never received. They additionally produced a 33 or 35 foot Offshoreman, which was a motor sailer with possibly only one or two built. West Marine Ltd also produced a small Row Boat tender with possible sailing capabilities, this is believed to be a GRP copy of an old boat that was lying around the yard at the time. 1. Marine clay

Marine clay is a type of clay found in coastal regions around the world. In the northern, deglaciated regions, it can sometimes be quick clay , which is notorious for being involved in landslides. Clay particles can self assemble into various configurations, each with totally different properties. When clay is deposited in the ocean , the excess ions allow a loose, open structure that is open to water infiltration. Once stranded and dried by ancient, changing ocean levels, it becomes a geotechnical engineering challenge. http www.co.fairfax.va.us dpwes publications marineclay.htm Where clay overlies peat, a lateral coast movent is denoted and shows a rise in relative sea level When investigating the market, the potential homeowner should always be on the lookout for geologic hazards . Marine clay swelling clay has the potential to destroy the foundation in only a few years. Some simple precautions, however, can reduce the hazard significantly Fact date July 2008 . During the construction of Marina Barrage in Singapore, marine clay was found at the site.
