Agrippinus floruit 452 461 was a general of the Western Roman Empire , Magistermilitum per Gallias under emperors Valentinian III , Petronius Maximus , Avitus and Libius Severus . Biography Born in Gaul, he was Comes and later Magistermilitum per Gallias between 452 and 456 457. He was sent in Gaul by the emperor of Gallic Roman origin Avitus , to restore the control of the province. He was wounded but healed miraculously by Aignan of Orleans Anianus , Roman Catholic Diocese of Orl ans Bishop of Aurelianum , and freed all the prisoners as a show of good attitude. In 456 Avitus was deposed by Majorian , who succeeded him Avitus had been accused of planning to give some provinces to the barbarians. That same year, or in 457, Majorian substituted Agrippinus, a man chosen by Avitus, with Aegidius Agrippius went to Rome and was put under trial for his collaboration wit Avitus plan. According to the Vita Lupicini , Agrippinus was condemned without the possibility to appeal to the Emperor or to the Senate, but was able to flee. ref Jones. ref Later he was pardoned by the Emperor, gave himself to the imperial agents, and was sent back to Gaul with all the honours. It is possible that Agrippinus, who was considered an enemy by Majorian, was restored in power by one of his successors, either Libius Severus or the man behind the throne, Ricimer , who had killed Majorian and put Libius on the throne. As Aegidius had not recognised Libius authority, the new Emperor appointed Agrippinus to Aegidius office 461 or 462 . In order to obtain the help of the Visigoths against Aegidius, Agrippinus accepted to give the city of Narbonne to them. Unreferenced date February 2007 Magister Musicae is an internet portal which hosts a digital catalogue of more than 3,000 hours of music classes, given by more than 200 of the world s most renowned musicians. Project The project is promoted by the president of the Alb niz Foundation , Paloma O Shea . The aim is to preserve the classes that take place each day at the Queen Sof a College of Music and make them accessible to a wider audience. In the year 2000, the Spanish Ministry for Science and Technology supported the project with a considerable donation under the aegis of the PROFIT programme. The resulting three years of research and development, which focused on the digitization, cataloguing, compression and high quality broadcasting of the videos on the internet, gave rise to HTCMedia, a tool which manages large quantities of video information. This has been the cornerstone of the creation of Magister Musicae. The master classes are recorded in the music schools. These lessons are scrupulously analyzed by music specialists, catalogued by work and by movement, then broken down into teaching units of no more than six minutes duration. This system of classification allows the visitor to the site to go directly to the section of the class that is of interest, and to be able to link with a number of classes given by various teachers. Participating Organizations The scale and ambition of the project led, in 2004, to six of the principal conservatoires and music schools joining Magister Musicae, through the European Harmos project. The Magister Trilogy is a fantasy trilogy written by Celia S. Friedman . It includes Feast of Souls 2007 Wings of Wrath February 3, 2009 Legacy of Kings preliminary date September 2011 . Background The Magister Trilogy takes place in a world of magic that comes at a supreme cost in order to cast a spell, a witch must give up some of his or her own life essence, causing them to die faster than usual, slowly wasting away. In this world, there are some, known as Magisters, who are capable of consuming the power of others instead of their own meaning that they must consume the life of another human for their own gain. From the time the Magisters first appeared in the world, nearly a thousand years before the beginning of the first book, until the beginning of the series when the central female character Kamala achieves this status, Magisters were exclusively male they had determined that no woman would be capable of the internal sacrifices necessary to make the transition from consuming her own life essence to the consumption of another person s life. When a Magister consumes someone s life in this way, it appears that the victim has a disease, which has come to be known as the Wasting Disease, although only the Magisters know its true cause. Human beings without magical powers are referred to as morati , whose world is divided into several continents, often distinguished by North and South. Royalty rules over such continents. Many kings employ a Magister Royal to see to their bidding by providing sorcery and counsel to their kingdom. Before the appearance of Magisters, there were monstrous creatures known as Souleaters similar in description to giant dragonflies who fed on the life essences of humans. According to legend, the gods of the world trapped the Souleaters near the world s north pole, creating a powerful barrier called the wrath that encircles the globe. They knew that one day, the Souleaters would return, and thus granted special powers into the bloodline of a particular ... more details
Dositheus Magister lang grc was a Greece Greek grammarian who flourished at Rome in the 4th century CE. He was the author of a Greek language Greek translation of a Latin grammar, intended to assist the Greek speaking inhabitants of the empire in learning Latin. The translation, at first word for word, becomes less frequent, and finally is discontinued altogether. The Latin grammar used was based on the same authorities as those of Charisius and Diomedes Grammaticus , which accounts for the many points of similarity. Dositheus contributed very little of his own. Some Greek Latin exercises by an unknown writer of the 3rd century, to be learnt by heart and translated, were added to the grammar. They are of considerable value as illustrating the social life of the period and the history of the Latin language. Of these Interpretamenta , the third book, containing a collection of words and phrases from everyday conversation has been preserved. A further appendix consisted of Anecdotes, Letters and Rescripts of the emperor Hadrian fables, of Aesop extracts from Gaius Julius Hyginus Hyginus a history of the Trojan War , abridged from the Iliad and a legal fragment, De manumissionibus . Refimprove date July 2007 Roman government The tribuni militum consulari potestate military tribunes with consular authority , in English commonly also Consular Tribunes , were tribune s elected with Roman consul consul ar power during the Conflict of the Orders in the Roman Republic , starting in 444 BC and then continuously from 408 BC to 394 BC and again from 391 BC to 367 BC. According to the histories of Livy and Dionysius of Halicarnassus , the Roman Magistrates magistracy of the tribuni militum consulari potestate was created during the Conflict of the Orders, along with the magistracy of the Censor ancient Rome censor , in order to give the Plebeian order access to higher levels of government without having to reform the office of Roman consul consul plebeians could be elected to the office of Consular Tribune. The choice whether a Collegium ancient Rome collegium of Consular Tribunes or consuls were to be elected for a given year was made by senatus consultum ref Titus Livius, Ab Urbe condita libri, IV, 12, 4 ref , and thus we see periods of either office interspersed with the other. The number of Consular Tribunes varied from 2 to 6, and because they were considered colleagues of the two censors, there is sometimes mention of the eight tribunes . The practice of electing consular tribunes came to a definitive end in 366 BC, when the Lex Licinia Sextia took effect, allowing the Plebeian order access to the office of consul.
