The first number was published in April 1965 by Milano Libri , a subsidiary of Rizzoli Corriere della Sera Rizzoli . It is currently published by Baldini & Castoldi in monthly issues. The first director of Linus was Giovanni Gandini . The magazine published famous foreign comics books like Peanuts , Popeye , Li l Abner , Bristow cartoon Bristow , Dick Tracy , and others. Linus was also the place where important Italian comics found space for the first time notable examples include Valentina comics Neutron Valentina by Guido Crepax and Girighiz by Enzo Lunari . Since the very beginning, the comics section was accompanied by an extensive section dealing with society, politics, mass media, literature and other cultural themes. The first issue, for example, featured an interview done by Umberto Eco with novelist Elio Vittorini . Linus Parker 23 April 1829 &ndash 5 March 1885 was a Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South , elected in 1882. Birth and Family Linus was born on a farm near Vienna, New York Vienna , Oneida County, New York Oneida County , New York . He married Sallie F. Sale in 1853. She died of yellow fever three months later. After five years Linus married a second time, to Ellen K. Burruss. They had three sons, one of whom later became Dean education Dean of the Candler School of Theology , Franklin N. Parker . Young Manhood and Military Service Linus worked for an older brother in a store in New Orleans in 1845. In 1846 he seved as a soldier in the Mexican American War . After that he began the study of law, but was convinced to enter the Methodist ministry. Ordained Ministry During March 1849 Linus served as a Supply Pastor for the church on Algiers Street. He was Licensed to Preach in May of that year. He joined the Louisiana Annual Conference , becoming an ordained Elder in 1853. Rev.
