It dates from the 6th century Dvaravati culture and was one of major cities of this kingdom. Within the roughly rectangular site of around 800x2000 m surrounded by an earthen wall and a moat 44 archaeological sites were found within and outside the wall, with the foundations of Wat Khlong Suwannakhiri being the largest and best preserved. Excavations were done in 1957, 1960 and 1961. The findings ceramic figurines, wheels of law and stone tablets are now at display at the National Museum Thailand National Museum in Ratchaburi and Bangkok, as well as in the small museum next to Wat Khlong. Geologic structures prone to cave ins include alvar , tsingy and other limestone formations, but can also include lava tube s and a variety of other subsurface rock formations. In mining, the term roof fall is used to refer to a range of collapses, ranging from the fall of a single flake of shale to collapses that form sink hole s that reach to the surface. Note that roof falls in mining are not all accidental. In longwall mining and retreat mining , miners systematically remove all support from under large areas of the mine roof, allowing it to settle just beyond the work area. The goal in such mining methods is not to prevent roof fall and the ensuing surface subsidence , but to control it.
