The Satire of the Trades , also called The Instruction of Dua Kheti , is a work of didactic ancient Egyptian literature. ref Katheryn A. Bard, Encyclopedia of the Archaeology of Ancient Egypt , Routledge 1999, p.886 ref It takes the form of an Sebayt Instruction , composed by a scribe from Sile named Dua Kheti for his son Pepi. The author is thought by some to have composed the Instructions of Amenemhat as well. ref I. E. S. Edwards, N. G. L. Hammond, C. J. Gadd, The Cambridge Ancient History , Cambridge University Press 1975, p.527 ref It describes a number of trades in an exaggeratedly negative light, extolling the advantages of the profession of scribe. It is generally considered to be a satire , though Wolfgang Helck Helck thought it reflected the true attitude of the scribal class towards manual labourers. ref W. Helck, Die Lehre des DwA xtjj , Wiesbaden, 1970 ref The text has survived in its entirety, but extremely corrupted, in the Sallier II Papyrus written during the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt Nineteenth Dynasty , which is kept at the British Museum . A number of fragments are kept at the British Museum, the Louvre , the Pierpont Morgan Library , and other institutions. ref Lichtheim, op.cit. , pp.184f. ref It was one of the texts most frequently copied by students during the Ramesside Period. In computer science , Performance Application Programming Interface PAPI is a portable application programming interface interface in the form of a library computing library to hardware counter hardware performance counters on modern microprocessor s. It is being widely used to collect low level performance metrics e.g. Instruction computer science instruction counts, clock cycle s, cache miss es of computer systems running UNIX Linux operating system s. PAPI provides predefined high level hardware events summarized from popular processors and direct access to low level native events of one particular processor. Counter multiplexing and arithmetic overflow overflow handling are also supported. Operating system support for accessing hardware counters is needed to use PAPI. For example, a Linux kernel Linux x86 kernel has to be patched with a performance monitoring counters driver perfctr http user.it.uu.se mikpe linux perfctr link to support PAPI.
