  1. The Lead

notability date October 2011 Unreferenced date December 2010 The Lead was an United States American Christian punk band from Florida , formed in 1984. They were Julio Rey vocals, songwriting, and guitar , Robbie Christie drums, songwriting, and vocals , and Nina Llopis bass, vocals and songwriting . Andy Coyle joined the band on guitar between 1989 and 1991. The Lead helped pioneer Christian punk music. They were one of the first bands to break the mold of the traditional, Christian music of the early 1980s. Their sound was heavily influenced by the punk rock scene in Southern California . In the 1980s they recorded prolifically, played three Cornerstone Festival s and briefly toured the eastern half of the U.S. three times. Their style of music changed as the years passed, starting from a base of pure punk into hardcore and then finally crossing over into thrash. The bands they played with, either as openers or headliners, included Suicidal Tendencies , DRI , MDC band MDC , Marginal Man , Cynic , Bloodgood , the Crucified , Believer band Believer , Whitecross , One Bad Pig , Deliverance , Vengeance Rising , and Crashdog . 1. Lead-lead dating

Cleanup date January 2008 Intro missing date September 2009 Lead lead dating is a method for dating geological samples, normally based on whole rock samples of material such as granite. For most dating requirements it has been superseded by uranium lead dating U Pb dating , but in certain specialized situations such as dating meteorites and the age of the earth it is more important than U Pb dating. Decay equations for common Pb Pb Dating There are three stable daughter Pb isotopes that result from the radioactive decay of uranium and thorium in nature they are sup 206 sup Pb, sup 207 sup Pb, and sup 208 sup Pb. sup 204 sup Pb is the only non radiogenic lead isotope, therefore is not one of the daughter isotopes. These daughter isotopes are the final decay products of U and Th radioactive decay chains beginning from sup 238 sup U, sup 235 sup U and sup 232 sup Th respectively. With the progress of time, the final decay product accumulates as the parent isotope decays at a constant rate. This shifts the ratio of radiogenic Pb versus non radiogenic sup 204 sup Pb sup 207 sup Pb sup 204 sup Pb or sup 206 sup Pb sup 204 sup Pb in favor of radiogenic sup 207 sup Pb or sup 206 sup Pb. 1. Lead shielding

File Lead shielding.jpg thumb Lead bricks are commonly used as radiation shielding. Lead shielding refers to the use of lead as a form of radiation protection to radiation shield shield people or objects from radiation . Lead can effectively attenuate certain kinds of radiation because of its high density and high atomic number principally, it is effective at stopping alpha ray s, gamma ray s, and x ray s. Lead s high density is caused by the combination of its high atomic mass and the relatively small size of its bond lengths and atomic radius. The high atomic mass means that more electron s are needed to maintain a neutral charge and the small bond length and a small atomic radius means that many atoms can be packed into a particular lead structure. Because of lead s density and large number of electrons, it is well suited to scattering x rays and gamma rays. These rays form photon s, a type of boson , which impart energy onto electrons when they come into contact. Without a lead shield ... . When the radiation attempts to pass through lead, its electrons absorb and scatter the energy. Eventually though, the lead will degrade from the energy to which it is exposed. However, lead is not effective ... on lead may create bremsstrahlung radiation, which is potentially more dangerous to tissue than the original radiation. Furthermore, lead is not a particularly effective absorber of neutron radiation . 1. Lewis lead

Orphan date September 2008 A Lewis Lead is a modified EKG lead used to detect atrial flutter waves when atrial flutter is suspected clinically but not definitely demonstrated on the standard 12 lead EKG. In order to create the Lewis Lead, the right arm electrode is moved to the right, second intercostal space adjacent to the Human sternum sternum . Then the left arm electrode is moved to the right, fourth intercostal space adjacent to the sternum. The Lewis Lead is then read as Lead I on the EKG and, since in most patients it will be roughly perpendicular to the wave of atrial depolarization , flutter waves may be more apparent.
