    The Somvanshi Pathare Kshatriya are a Hindu caste found in the state of Maharashtra in India . They are also known as S.K.P, pathare prabhu, Pachkalshi or kshatriya samaj. Origin The words Somavanshi Kshatriya mean the second caste in the hierarchy of the Hindu Varna Hinduism Varna System and the highest cast of Mumbapuri now Mumbai region. Soma means Moon , thus, these kshatriyas belong to the Chandra Vansha i.e. Moon Dynasty of Warriors . Sopara and Mahim are said to be the land of confluence of the Somavanshi Kshatriya clan , one from Utkala and other from Gujarat and still other from Magadha and Mahishmati. The Somavanshis of Vasai and Palghar taluka have a unique history. The history of Somavanshis in Vasai date back to 2000 BC to the rule of Utkal now Orissa Naresh Guhashaya. Raja Guhashaya ruled Shurparak during 2000 BC. Since then Shurparak was the place ruled by able Kshatriyas of Somvansha. Later during 14th century BC. They are divided into Panch Kalshis and Chau Kalshis. They are the sister caste of CKPs Chandravanshi Kshatriya Pathare. SKPs separated from CKPs when they did not agree on widow re marriage. SKPs were very progressive in their outlook and promoted widow remarriage at a time when it was looked down upon. These people are mainly based in Mumbai and nearby places like Alibag ,Nagaon, Uran, Cheul, Revdanda , Murud , Maap gaon, Kihim and others. Common surnames in this community are Goregaonkar, Chogle, Bhatte, Mhatre, Bhagat,Paralkar, Worlikar,Dadarkar,Dandekar,Date , Raote, Chemburkar, Ovalekar,Mahimkar, Pathare, Raut, Naik,Vaidya,Pradhan, Surnaik, Tekalkar, Thakur, Patil, Rath, Gharat, Mantri, Ule, Pansare and others.
