The 2 original Japanese films which went into Invadersfrom Space The Mysterious Spacemen s Demonic Castle and Earth on the Verge of Destruction were 48 minutes and 39 minutes in duration. The two films were edited into one 78 minute film, resulting in a total of 9 minutes being cut from the two films during the re editing. Also, most of the original music was replaced by library cues. DVD release Invadersfrom Space is currently available on DVD. Something Weird Video with Image Entertainment released the film and the other Starman film, Atomic Rulers of the World on a single disc on December 10, 2002. The group had its origins in Bowie s earlier backing outfit The Hype, which featured Ronson and Woodmansey but Tony Visconti on bass. They were briefly signed as a band on its own known as Ronno. With Bolder taking over bass, they were subsequently named via the landmark 1972 Bowie concept album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders fromMars and were billed as such on the accompanying large scale Ziggy Stardust Tour . They were present again on Bowie s 1973 album Aladdin Sane . Another leg of the tour followed that year, with the final show captured in the film Ziggy Stardust The Motion Picture . The group joined Bowie in the theatrical style of the material s presentation.
