    The Church of the Incarnation is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas of the Episcopal Church United States Episcopal church, located at 3966 McKinney Avenue in Dallas , Texas . History The Church of the Incarnation was founded in 1879 by Alexander Charles Garrett Bishop Alexander Garrett as the Cathedral Chapel of the Incarnation. It was originally built on the corner of McKinney and Harwood, far north of Dallas business and residential community. In 1897, the Mission Church became a full fledged parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas Diocese of Dallas . Under the leadership of its dedicated rectors and many devoted members, the church grew in size and service to the community. In 1902, Incarnation dedicated the first brick building that was used for the next 25 years. It is the third Catholic cathedral church for Nashville. The first was the Holy Rosary Cathedral which is now demolished and occupied the site of what is now the Tennessee State Capitol . The second was Saint Mary s Cathedral which still stands on the corner of Fifth and Church Streets. Construction of the church began in 1910 under the direction of Bishop Thomas Sebastian Byrne. History Of Incarnation Parish School On opening day, Monday, September 20, 1937, 170 children registered at the school which was directed by the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The school represented a cost of 45,000, with equipment adding another 5,000. The property, which faced 79 feet on West Glenoaks and extended to a depth of 118 feet, was valued at 14,500, bringing the total outlay to 64,500.
