The Igorot Revolt was a religious revolt in 1601 against Spain Spanish attempts to Christianize the Igorot people of northern Luzon , in the Philippines . Francisco de Tello de Guzm n Governor General Francisco de Tello de Guzm n sent Captain Aranda with Spanish and Filipino colonial troops. The Spaniards were determined to convert the Igorots to Christianity. They launched a crusade to proselytize the highland natives of Luzon and to place them under Spanish Authorities. A strong expedition was sent to the Igorotland to stop the natives from resisting colonial subjugation. Bahag refers to the loincloth which was commonly used throughout the Philippines before the arrival of European colonizers, and which is used by some indigenous tribes of the Philippines today most notably the Igorot Cordillerans in Northern Luzon . It is basically a hand loomed piece of long cloth that is wrapped around a man s middle. The Ibaloi or Nabaloi is an indigenous people indigenous ethnic group found in the northern Philippines . The Ibaloi are one of the indigenous peoples collectively known as Igorot , who live in the mountains of the Cordillera Central on the island of Luzon . There are approximately 55,000 Ibaloi most of them can be found in the southern part of the province of Benguet . The Ibaloi are a mostly agricultural people cultivating rice in terrace agriculture terraced fields . Many contemporary Ibaloi have integrated into the mainstream Filipino culture and some are employed as mining miners in the gold and silver mines of Benguet. The Ibaloi traditionally practiced mummy mummification . The process they used involved smoking the corpse for months to completely dehydrate the dead body, which preserved every part of the body including tattoos and internal organs.
