Unreferenced date January 2009 A medical identification tag is a small emblem or tag worn on a bracelet, neck chain, or on the clothing bearing a message that the wearer has an important medical condition that might require immediate attention. The intention is to alert a paramedic, physician, emergency department personnel or other first responders of the condition even if the wearer is not conscious enough or old enough to explain. Some people prefer to carry a wallet card with the same information. A new type of medic identification alert is the USB medical alert tag. 1. S-tag

S tag is the name of an oligopeptide derived from pancreatic ribonuclease A RNase A . If RNase A is digested with subtilisin , a single peptide bond is cleaved, but the resulting two products remain weakly bound to each other and the protein, called ribonuclease S, remains active although each of the two products alone shows no enzymatic activity. The N terminus of the original RNase A, also called S peptide, consists of 20 amino acid residues, of which only the first 15 are required for ribonuclease activity. This 15 amino acid s long peptide is called S15 or S tag . The amino acid sequence of the S tag is Lys Glu Thr Ala Ala Ala Lys Phe Glu Arg Gln His Met Asp Ser. It is believed that the peptide with its abudance of charged and polar residues could improve solubility of proteins it is attached to. Moreover, the peptide alone is thought not to fold into a distinct structure. On DNA level the S tag can be attached to the N or C terminus of any protein . After gene expression , such a tagged protein can be detected by comercially availabe antibodies . References R.T. Raines et al., The S Tag Fusion System for Protein Purification. Image USID P Tag On Wrist With Barcode.jpg thumb 200px USID Patient tag. br Foto Sonitor Technologies Ultrasound Identification is a Real Time Locating System RTLS or Indoor Positioning System IPS technology used to automatically determine and identify the location of objects with room accuracy. The approach is using simple, inexpensive nodes badges tags attached to the surface of persons, objects and devices, which then transmit an ultrasound signal to communicate their locations to microphone sensors. Because ultrasound signal wavelength s have short reach, they are confined to lesser distant locations than with wireless transmissions with higher susceptibility to multiple reflection, multipath and through the wall multiple room responses. Hence ultrasound based RTLS is considered a more robust alternative to passive Radio frequency identification pRFID and even to active Radio frequency identification aRFID in complex indoor environments such as hospitals , where radio waves get multiply transmitted and reflected, thereby compromising the positioning accuracy. Generally the ultrasound signal does not interfere with sensitive medical equipment. ref Greenemeier, Larry. http www.sciam.com article.cfm?id indoor positioning system A Positioning System That Goes Where GPS Can t , Scientific American , 2008 01 23. In both cases, readers and spectators see themselves in the fictional character. Identification is usually supposed to be largely unconscious a reader may be aware that she likes a given character, but not that she actually sees that character as an alter ego, a version of her, or a projection of her aspirations for herself. 1. Identification (information)

unreferenced article date April 2008 The function of identification is to map a known quantity to an unknown entity so as to make it known. The known quantity is called the identifier or Id and the unknown entity is what needs identification. A basic requirement for identification is that the Id be unique. Ids may be scoped, that is, they are unique only within a particular scope. IDs may also be built out of a collection of quantities such that they are unique on the collective. Identification is the capability to find, retrieve, report, change, or delete specific data without ambiguity . This applies especially to information stored in database s. In database normalization , it is the central, defining function to the discipline. Example To retrieve the data stored about an individual with the Internal Revenue Service IRS of the United States , the IRS needs to be supplied with the individual s Social Security number SSN . The SSN, then, identifies a unique individual to the IRS. No other living person has that SSN, and that individual is assumed to not have more than one SSN. Other data that the individual s SSN identifies with the IRS would be such things as his or her name, birthdate, and current employer. 1. Need identification

In the art of selling, Need identification is one stage in a seven stage personal selling process. Description In this stage the salesperson takes a qualified prospect through a series of question and answer sessions in order to identify the requirements of the prospect. During this step, the salesperson will attempt to help the buyer identify and quantify a business need or a gap between where the client is today and where they would like to be in the future. Based on that gap, needs can be clarified to determine if the solution will fill all, or part of the overall gap. From this procedure the saleperson is able to come up with a proposal suggesting various products services that will suffice the need as presented by the prospect.
