Orphan date February 2009 This is a history of the Kasai region in the Democratic Republic of Congo and of the political divisions which have occupied it since human settlement. Earliest residence Not much is known of pre Bantu residence in the region, although it is likely that Pygmy Pygmies once dwelled in Kasai. Bantu settlement The ancestors of the Lulua people and the Luba Kasai , the two largest ethnic groups in the region, settled in the region at around 500 BC. European exploration Empty section date July 2010 Belgian rule Belgian rule in Kasai, post Leopold, eventually saw the consolidation of the region as a single political unit. In 1919, Bas Congo, Moyen Congo, Kasa , Kwango and Sankuru districts out of 22 districts created in the Belgian Congo were merged into Congo Kasai , one of four provinces created that year. In 1933 Kasa and Sankuru the two eastern districts of the former vice government general of Congo Kasa and parts of the districts of L opold II in Equateur and Lomami in Katanga were separated to form the new Congolese province of Lusambo after 1947, Kasai in turn, Bas Congo, Kwango, L opoldville and the major part of Lake L opold II became the new province of L opoldville. In 1957, the capital of Kasai was moved from Lusambo to Kananga Luluabourg . End of Belgian rule In 1960, the Democratic Republic of the Congo declared independence from Belgian. Archaic M ori period The precise date at which the first inhabitants of New Zealand reached Otago and the extreme south known to later M ori people M ori as Murihiku remains uncertain. M ori descend from a race of Polynesian sea wanderers who, in some far off age, moved from East Asia and South east Asia to the islands of the Pacific. TOCright The history of Canterbury, New Zealand dates back to settlement by the M ori people in about the 10th century. Pre 1840 M ori Period Introduction Probably no more than 500 M ori people M ori were living in Canterbury, New Zealand Canterbury when European settlement began in the 1840s. They were part of the Ng i Tahu tribe which occupied the South Island of New Zealand , remnants of a more numerous population which may have numbered between 3000 and 4000 people at the beginning of the 19th century. Decimated by civil wars from 1810 to 1815, they were almost exterminated between 1830 and 1832 in attacks by the northern Ng ti Toa , led by Te Rauparaha . Early Moa hunters The earliest settlers in Canterbury appear to have been the people described as the Moa hunters, arriving about the 10th century Citation needed date November 2008 near the time of the traditional discovery of the South Island by Rakaihautu . Traces of the presence of these people are found in camp and burial sites near river mouths, the northern valleys of Banks Peninsula and on Hikuraki Bay . The burial sites of the Moa hunters containing moa eggs, ornamental artifacts and whale s tooth pendants show that their culture differed from that of the later Maori. South Island tradition however gives no account of the Moa hunters. There is the legend of a shadowy aboriginal people known as Te Kahui Tipua , or the band of ogres , who were destroyed by later arrivals called Te Rapuwai . Archaic M ori Period It appears likely that not only Te Rapuwai, in whose time the forests of Canterbury were said to have been burned and the Moa exterminated ref AFM , but also the Waitaha , who followed them in the earliest period, were established in the South Island long before the arrival of the first waves of the 14th ..., they occupied the whole east coast of the South Island, including Otago and Southland Region Southland ... The interorbital region of the skull is located between the eye s, anterior to the braincase . The form of the interorbital region may exhibit significant variation between taxonomic groups. In oryzomyine rodent s, for example, the width, form, and presence of beading in the interorbital region vary among species. In bird s and many other animals whose eyes are set on the side of the skull, the interorbital region normally consists of a thin interorbital septum only. This may be pierced by a hole of larger or smaller size, connecting the eye socket s.
