On April 1, 2004, Miyoshi City absorbed the towns of Kisa, Hiroshima Kisa , Mirasaka, Hiroshima Mirasaka and Miwa, Hiroshima Miwa , the villages of Funo, Hiroshima Funo , Kimita, Hiroshima Kimita and Sakugi, Hiroshima Sakugi , all from Futami District, Hiroshima Futami District , and the town of K nu, Hiroshima K nu , from K nu District, Hiroshima K nu District , to form the new city of Miyoshi. Futami District was dissolved thereby. As of 2008 , the city has an estimated population of 58,170 and the population density density of 74.8 persons per km . The total area is 778 km .
