Physical cosmology In physical cosmology , assuming that nature is described by a Grandunificationtheory , the grandunification epoch was the period in the evolution of the early universe following the Planck epoch , starting at about 10 sup 43 sup seconds after the Big Bang , in which the temperature of the universe was comparable to the characteristic temperatures of grand unified theorygrand unified theories . If the grandunification energy is taken to be 10 sup 15 sup GeV , this corresponds to temperatures higher than 10 sup 27 sup kelvin K . During this period, three of the four fundamental interactions electromagnetism , the strong interaction , and the weak interaction were unified as the electronuclear force . Gravity had separated from the electronuclear force at the end of the Planck era . During the grandunification epoch, physical characteristics such as mass , charge physics charge , flavour particle physics flavour and colour charge were meaningless. The grandunification epoch ended at approximately 10 sup 36 sup seconds after the Big Bang. At this point several key events took place. The strong force separated from the other fundamental forces. The temperature fell below the threshold at which X and Y bosons could be created, and the remaining X and Y bosons decayed. Fact date July 2007 It is possible that some part of this decay process violated the conservation of baryon number and gave rise to a small excess of matter over antimatter see baryogenesis . This phase transition is also thought to have triggered the process of cosmic inflation that dominated the development of the universe during the following inflationary epoch . The grandunification energy math Lambda GUT math , or the GUT scale , is the energy level above which, it is believed, the electromagnetic force , weak force , and strong force become equal in strength and unify to one force governed by a Simple Lie algebra simple Lie group . Specific Grand unified theoryGrand unified theories GUTs can predict the grandunification energy but, usually, with large uncertainties due to model dependent details such as the choice of the Yang Mills Theory gauge group , the Higgs sector, the matter content or further free parameters. Furthermore, at the moment it seems fair to state that there is no agreed minimal GUT . The unification of the electroweak force s and the strong force with the gravitational force in a so called theory of everything Theory of Everything requires an even higher energy level which is generally assumed to be close to the Planck Scale . In theory, at such short distances, gravity becomes comparable in strength to the other three forces of nature known to date. This statement is modified if there exist additional dimensions of space at intermediate scales. In this case, the strength of gravitational interactions increases faster at smaller distances, and the energy scale at which all known forces of nature unify, can be considerably lower. This effect is exploited in models of large extra dimensions . The exact value of the grandunification energy if grandunification is indeed realized in nature depends on the precise physics present at shorter distance scales not yet explored by experiments. If one assumes the Desert particle physics Desert and supersymmetry , it is at around 10 sup 16 sup GeV. The most powerful particle accelerator collider to date, the LHC , is designed to reach a center of mass energy of 1.4 10 sup 4 sup GeV in proton proton collisions. Scandinavia The unification of Norway into a single monarchy kingdom took place in 872 AD, during the Viking Age . By the time of the first historical records of these events, about the 700s AD, Norway was divided into several petty kingdoms of Norway petty kingdoms . It is also assumed that Danish rulers often held sway in the Oslofjord area. King Harald I of Norway Harald Fairhair is the monarch who is credited by later tradition as having unified Norway into one kingdom. According to the saga s, he ruled Norway from approximately 872 to 930. Modern historians assume that his rule was limited to the coastal areas of southern Norway. Campaignbox Unification of Norway In 866, Harald made the first of a series of conquests over the many petty kingdom s which would compose Norway, including V rmland in Sweden, and modern day south eastern Norway, which had sworn allegiance to the Swedish king Erik Eymundsson . In 872, after a battle of Hafrsfjord great victory at Hafrsfjord near Stavanger , Harald found himself king over the whole country. His realm was, however, threatened by dangers from without, as large numbers of his opponents had taken refuge, not only in Iceland , then recently discovered but also in the Orkney Islands , Shetland Islands , Hebrides Islands , Faroe Islands and the northern European mainland. However, his opponents leaving was not entirely voluntary. Many Norwegian chieftains who were wealthy and respected posed a threat to Harald therefore, they were subjected to much harassment from Harald, prompting them to vacate the land.
