In certain local Policing in the United States police departments in the United States , the FatalAccident Reconstruction Team FART is a group of police officers dedicated to investigating Car accident motor vehicle accidents that result in death. These type of investigations can involve vehicle on vehicle, vehicle on fixed object or vehicle on pedestrian. The investigation of accidents with no survivors is of particular interest, because the detectives often have no witness eyewitnesses to give an account of the event. Thus the FART must rely on Forensics forensic evidence, such as tire skid marks, tire scuffmarks yaw marks or other tire marks to assist in determining what happened in the collision sequence. An accident with both survivors and fatalities is also of concern, because police cannot depend on the survivor s to accurately recount the accident. Survivors are often unconscious, incapacitated, or traumatized and thus unable to speak to police. Even if survivors are able to give a statement, their memory may not be perfect, or they may be lying to avoid charges such as vehicular homicide or vehicular manslaughter . In general, the FARTs try to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the accident, much like criminal detectives attempt to Crime reconstruction reconstruct crimes . These departments rarely refer to their team with the acronym FART, because the word fart is often considered vulgar or offensive. law enforcement stub See also Vehicular accident reconstruction Car accident External links Some police departments that officially use the term FatalAccident Reconstruction Team are http www.eastbrunswick.org publicsafety divisions operations.asp East Brunswick, New Jersey http www.gallatinpd.org traffic.htm Gallatin, Tennessee http www.herald review.com articles 2007 04 24 news local news 1022936.txt Decatur, Illinois In addition, there are some departments that formerly used the term, but do not use it anymore, such as http web.archive.org ... more details

Cooperative inquiry , also known as collaborative inquiry was first proposed by John Heron in 1971 and later expanded with Peter Reason . The major idea of cooperative inquiry is to research with rather than on people. It emphasizes that all active participants are fully involved in research decisions as co researchers. Cooperative inquiry creates a research cycle among four different types of knowledge propositional knowing as in contemporary science , practical knowing the knowledge that comes with actually doing what you propose , experiential knowing the feedback we get in real time about our interaction with the larger world and presentational knowing the artistic rehearsal process through which we craft new practices . The research process iterates these four stages at each cycle with deepening experience and knowledge of the initial proposition, or of new propositions, at every cycle. Stage 1 The first reflection phase that determines topics and methods of inquiry. This phase involves primarily propositional knowing. Stage 2 The first action phase, usually within the group, that tests the agreed actions, records outcomes from the testing, and observes if the actions conform to the original ... 2 and 3. Now they may re frame the original ideas and amend inquiry procedures. In this stage, co researchers also decide whether to proceed to further cycles in the inquiry processes. This stage ... to propositional knowing, if the inquiry group decides to start a next cycle. Deleted image removed ... Research. London Sage, 2001. Heron, J. 1996. Merge Inquiry based learning date January 2009 Inquiry education sometimes known as the inquiry method is a student centered method of education focused on asking questions. Students are encouraged to ask questions which are meaningful to them, and which do not necessarily have easy answers teachers are encouraged to avoid giving answers when this is possible, and in any case to avoid giving direct answers in favor of asking more questions. The method was advocated by Neil Postman and Charles Weingartner in their book Teaching as a Subversive Activity . The inquiry method is motivated by Postman and Weingartner s recognition that good learners and sound reasoners center their attention and activity on the dynamic process of inquiry itself, not merely on the end product of static knowledge. They write that certain characteristics are common to all good learners Postman and Weingartner, 31 33 , saying that all good learners have Self confidence in their learning ability Pleasure in problem solving A keen sense of relevance Reliance on their own judgment over other people s or society s No fear of being wrong No haste in answering Flexibility in point of view Respect for facts, and the ability to distinguish between fact and opinion No need for final answers to all questions, and comfort ... to instill students with these qualities and behaviors, a teacher adhering to the inquiry ... suggest that inquiry teachers have the following characteristics pp. 34 37 They avoid telling students ....
